I have to agree. This is a huge disappointment coming off an incredible looking 3G. I wasn't in the market for a new TL, but I may have to get the 2008 at the end of the year before they are all gone

Not unexpected from many, what is surprising is that a car not even shipping or offically unveiled in person made the list, must say how polarizing this 4G will be.

no one even has a good look at the TL yet.. that pic gives us an idea but thats about it. wait til the car comes out and people can mod it. then say if its ugly or not

Why not put the infiniti FX or EX on this list? It's subjective. I don't think that picture is particularly that bad. I remember when the Type-S first came out, people where howling about the death of Acura. The TSX was much maligned but has had record breaking sales the past two months besting the TL for the best selling Acura.

Yeah, I hear ya. The 09 FX has got to make anyone's top 10 list. There are others as well that will certainly knock the 09TL of the list... Pontiac Aztec, Toyota Echo....

they judged it from that picture, and to be honest that picture makes the TL 5x better than those IRL pics in the other thread

Keep in mind, the list is of new cars. Certainly nothing can top such historical classics as the Edsel and the Aztek.

It speaks volumes that Jalopnik made a special case to include the TL even though it hasn't shipped yet. I think they made the right call.

Boys...the first and last sentences tell it all.

The 2009 Acura TL doesn't go on sale for a few months and we already don't like those looks. Successive generations of Acuras are getting worse, reminding us a time when their cars actually had names (Legend, Integra) and actually had style. The TL is a Transformer frozen forever in a transformation from an attractive sedan to a particularly unattractive cheese grater.

I tend to agree with the inclusion on this list. Someone should send them the real pictures in the other thread. Maybe it'll move up on the list.

While putting the TL on the list may be controversial, maybe at least it will make Acura step back and rethink this whole thing so that they can make some corrections on the refresh two years from now.

For those saying they will reserve judgement for when they see it in person, well, as a designer myself, there usually isn't a car that looks amazing in photos and worse in person, it will only improve with real life (talking about style, not fit and finish). Acura has nothing to lose with a car that would knock your socks off in pics.

I totally agree with it being in there. I just saw the new pictures and I think the '09 TL looks like SH!T. I mean, it's even worse than the new Nissan Maxima! Now you know it's REAAAAAALLY bad.

The new TSX's front end also looks like crap...

It is one ugly POS. After I bought my 2G TL I thought I would be a TL owner for life. But my 3G will be my last Acura ever because the 4G is a freaking disaster. Hello BMW.

I don't hate it.. but I don't love it either.

A car that I can keep in my driveway for a long time has to be one I love.. like the 3G TL.

Otherwise it's just a one-night-stand; you wake up the next morning in a hurry to leave.

I am A die-hard Acura fan. I will defend acura and praise them to death even after 2 faulty trannies on my 2001 CL type-s. The car is STILL great 150K miles later but..................
The next TL lookes o..k.. in the drawing they have but the actual pic of the silver one is one of the ugliest things ever come from a premium car company!
The TSX is not attractive but 10x better looking then the new TL..

TL pics look butt fugly but something tells me when seeing one on the road ima be like DAYYYUMMM...cuz thats wat i did yesterday wen i saw a 2009 TSX on the road. I couldnt stop look at it. The blue paint was sick too..

Call those cars what you want, but Acura's still gonna sell tons of 'em. Many dealers can't keep the new TSX's in stock. I've sat in one and believe me, I was impressed. And I do not impress easily. Some of the new electronic wizardy may make you think the '09 TL is not so bad after all when you get to actually see and play with it, but that remains to be seen.

I don't know why the new Pilot and the '08 Prius are on that list. The '09 Pilot is a definite improvement over the old one and the Prius is set for a complete redesign for '09.

The RL should have made the list instead of the TL, that's for sure.

Also the new Maxima looks pretty bad, I saw one in person the other day and I was astounded, in a bad way.

Besides I think its a new trend for Japanese Motor companies to go uglier and bigger, refrence Nissan for examples.

Maxima, Murano and the Altima are all.

Who knows what a redesigned 350z will look like.

Hi guys....I am getting a bit worried also the more I see the pics, especially those infamous shots at the golf course. I always wait until I see the car in person beofre making my opinions but I don't know, this TL doesn't seem to give me the good vibes. That being said, I had the same feelings about the 09 TSX and guess what, I now have one in my garage so it goes to show you how sometime pics, especially bad ones can really turn people off. I think Acura would need to show this car in press release photos ASAP before people get really turned off, one was not enough!! The thing that I can't understand is how different the TL is from the others, the TL, the TSX, the MDX and RDX all have this 'tear drop' look about their lights, pointy edges to them, a cue known to be Acura, yet these rear lights are NOTHING at all like anything from Acura so far....That confuses me a bit....

I am not saying the TL will be HIDEOUS, because when i saw the press release photos, I was like...wow wow, this is nicer than I thought, then i saw the golf course pictures and was like..Oh!

I cannot wait to see this car in the flesh...its either going to be drastically different and will wow me like the TSX did (with the aerokit) or will be a total disapointment!
