it's not as simple as you think leasing a vehicle.
they won't allow you to switch to newer models without reaching their hands in your pocket. you'll lose soo much money.

Of course you'll lose money switchig cars all the time. Nothing comes free.

But if driving the latest model is a must, he'll lose less money by switching leases for the latest model cars than by buying them and keep trading them in for newer models.

Edward'TLS...Actually, I am just losing about 1000$ from what they give me for my car (the dealer is buying it back) from what my residual is worth. Factor in that my current lease rate for my 06 was 5.9% and the current lease rate is only 3.9% with a higher residual value than my 2006 as well, turns out I am only paying about 40$ more a month than what I am currently paying while this 2009 will have a body kit on that my 06 didn't. So for 40$ a month extra, I'd be stupid not to jump on it (given that I do like the 2009) also when you keep in mind that by the end of the summer, I'd likely would have to put a set of new tires (~1200$) so why bother.....Out with the old...In with the new...PLUS....I help the economy

How is it "for sure?"

It's only "for sure" when SH-AWD models arrive on the dealership lots.

With all the evidence, I'd say it's almost certain. We don't know "for sure" that the sun will rise tomorrow either. But I wouldn't bet against it.

Thank you for clearing things up and providing us with as much information as you could, if what you said holds true, I would perhaps 3G owners might convert to the newer gen, SH-AWD being the sole reason. Some 3G owners care less about styling and moreso about value, I think those are the type that will jump the boat to the 4G.

I'm just dying to see the way the TL will look "unveiled/ w-out the leather".....you know with the sh-awd comes less mpg's which is a big deal in my book....my wallet that is....so if I ever decide to "upgrade" to a newer TL ( don't know why... ..since I still love to drive my '05 MT).... there better a lot of more standard features and maybe a similar V-TEC as the Ody has...VCM (variable engine management) ...

If you mean mid $40k for base, I can't see that. Rumored G37 sedan with AWD will probably be around $42k with Nav since current G35 with AWD and Nav is at $40k now. I can't see Acura jumping ahead of the G in price.

Low to mid $40k for 3.7 and AWD maybe but they have priced themselves below the G.

I think your dealer was trying to discourage waiting.

Highly unlikely because the next major auto show it could debut at would be at the LA Auto Show in November. Honda would not release the new TL without showing at a major show and they have never release any major redesign without such a debut.

A September release date would mean it is in production right now, which clearly it is not because they are still driving the test mule. I would expect to see spyshots of the brochure photo sessions sometime in September.

If Acura doesn't offer a manual with SH AWD they will loose alot of customers like Lexus did with the IS 350. NO MANUAL. Friken stupid. IMO. IMO. AND a MILLION OTHERS.

they WILL NOT lose a lot of customers since there arent many customers buying manual transmissions anymore. not with corvettes, not with bmw not with just about anyone outside of porsche. thats why lexus wont sell the manual in the 350 as they stated at launch. manual transmissions are out dated technology. period.

The IS350 doesn't sell as well because of it's overly inflated price over the IS250, which effectively prompt buyers to move over to the 3-series and the C-class.
um, get the facts straight. lexus planned on selling 80% of the IS as 250s and was surprised when the 350 proved to be so popular at launch as I know since I lease one. comparing the 350 to the 3 series in year one of the launch was an easy win for the lexus until bmw switched to twin turbo engines to avoid getting their asses kicked by IS 350s. they even matched the hp rating of 306.

True. The demand for manuals is shrinking more every year from what I've read. There was a time when AT's were so inefficient and bad at shifting affectively that anyone who wanted a spirited driving experience really needed to opt for a MT. But now, the old "slush box" is getting so good it's hard to quantify the difference. It soon may be nothing more than a nostalgic option offering no practical value .

So we can say this with a fair amount of certainty, it will have at least 270HP and 250TQ with a 3.5L motor, how can I be so sure you ask?

Well because the Accord offers those same numbers and its VERY unlikely that the TL would release something for more money that offered less performance. The previous generations of the Accord and current TL model differ by 10HP 246 compared to 256 if I'm not mistaken (SAE corrected) therefore a 280HP in the base model TL seems plausible.

The odd thing is the Accord only gets 21city and 29hwy mpg, which is right around what the TL gets now, but this is with cylinder deactivation, as the M/T Accords only get 17city and 25hwy because they don't offer cylinder deactivation. This has probative value as it may suggest that those same technologies be offered in the TL or perhaps that we can expect a decrease in fuel economy, if the TL gets the motor upgrade without the cylinder deactivation.

Okay, so, back to the original subject in this thread. '09 TL Release Dates and Pics (unmasked)... Anyone know how to get them? I'd love to see the new body styling. Oh, by the way, I sure hope that Acura hasn't discontinued the SH-AWD or Type S options. I realize that gas is expensive people, but here's the deal, not very many people have stopped driving, and I sure as hell haven't lost my love for nice vehicles, such as the Acura TL.

For me, it was enough to seal the deal to get me the car I felt looked and suited me better. I am sure you guys will all see the new TL soon enough, its just cool to know in advance what it will look like and won't have any regrets with my purchase.

So, it sounds like you have ALREADY placed an order for the car. If so, what kind of price did you get quoted and what dealership did you order it from? Did they allow you to order the AWD version? I am ready to do the same IF the next gen looks good enough AND comes with AWD day one. Otherwise, I am content with my paid off 2004.
