Hi, I am a newbie here and came across this forum while I was trying to do some search before buying a TL.

My Scenario: I am interested in buying a TL and most probably will be keeping it for 2-3 years. I won't be putting too many miles on it as I live pretty close to my office. I would be reselling the car so, a major consideration while buying is about the resale value. I don't want to loose too much after a couple of years.

I am in Rhode Island (New England region) and started searching for CPO vehicles around and got a feel of the prices. Then one of my friend who bought his Acura TL 6 years back told me that I should try searching in NJ/NY region too, and I would find significant price differences. My search results yielded some 2008/2009 and even 2010 Acura Base TL models within $27k and low miles. But most of them were from the same dealer (Paragon Acura) -- I searched for the dealer ratings and they were around 4.5 for this dealer. I thought it might be worth the drive if I am able to save some money, till the time I came to this forum and saw this thread:

Based on my research I have few questions, which I think someone over here with more experience might be able to answer:

1. As the title says, Does it make sense to buy a CPO 2008 TL with say may be 30k miles with a Personally owned title or 2009/2010 CPO with 20k miles on it and a commercial title (May be a loaner? or a corporate fleet?) -- As far as personal preference goes, I do like the 4th Gen TL models.

2. Are there really significant price difference between RI/MA prices and NY/NJ prices?

3. Is it worth buying from Paragon Acura? They have some 2010 Base Acura TLs with low miles which have carfax detail as Commercial (loaner may be?) Does it make sense to buy loaner cars?

4. If the car is CPO, will dealers in RI/MA region take care if there are any issues with the car, even if I didn't buy it from them?

After going through the thread I found a couple of dealers in the region have a few 2011 TL's (Loaded) and thought of checking with them what their final offer would be, even if I manage to get the same price as the OP in the thread above got, will I still be losing more money than whatever I will lose by buying a CPO vehicle?

IMO if resale is ur biggest concern, going cpo 08 would be ur best bet. since it has already had the largest depreciation curve done. you wont take that much of a hit come resale time

I agree with this line of thinking BUT any '08 you find will soon (if not already) be out of warranty and out-of-warranty service on these cars is expensive if done at the Acura dealership. Also finding an '08 with less than 40K on the clock is going to be very difficult, particularly in that market.

Going the other way and assuming you're not interested in a '12, your best value may be on a "new" '11 - if you can find one that you like. A month ago they were plentiful. Today they're scarce. Dealers have been knocking $5k off the sticker almost without batting an eye & flushing them out the door. With a brand new '11 you'll also have the benefit of a full warranty when you buy it + whatever remaining warranty will embellish it's resale value later on, assuming you're only going to be in the car for 2~3 years. I would never consider buying a used car without some of the original bumper-to-bumper warranty remaining. Jusy my 2¢ worth.

^You can't get a 2011 4G TL for $27K. The least you'll pay is $32K (Texas)
A 2010 TL still has a warranty (if miles are less than 50K) and would save OP thousands of dollars.

Hey man, I know the feeling. Listen, The wife just traded in her 2006 TL for a 2010 TL. Now when we got the 2006, it had 13,000 miles on it with one owner. She just lucked up into the 2010 with 13,000 on it and one owner also. They gave her $16,500 for the trade in! These car seem to have good trade in value when your ready, as long as you havent abused it! The finance guy even told me he could get me something for my 2005 TL, even with 144,000 miles on it. Do we'll see when that times comes!

Thanks for the reply guys, I am still looking around in the area to find out what 2011 models are available and what price dealers are offering.

I did find a couple of 2008 models with less than 20k miles on them, but again now I am skeptical about Paragon Acura.

Remember that 2008 is the previous generation if that matters to you.
