[What's this loose wire] 2014 TL

Hi,

I recently purchased a new 2014 TL. Today I noticed a hanging wire on the front bumper.

I have taped it to bumper as shown in the picture, what is it?

Where does it go? Maybe the clips are loose or broken?

Any idea is appreciated.

thanks.

on my 2010 it is connected to the bumper itself. It needs to be unclipped prior to taking the bumper off. There should be another connector for it to plug into in the middle of the bumper. Not sure if it is the same on 2014 though.

There should be a mounting hole on the bumper somewhere within reach of the temperature sensor push-in clip. I'm not sure where it is without looking but its not hard to find. Make sure you're not missing the clip, #5 in the diagram.

highly doubt it, i am pretty sure it goes to an electrical inspection before it leaves the factory..

According to the service manual, that plug is indeed for the "Outside Temp Sensor" (OTS).

The OTS has an external plastic clip that attaches onto the inside of the front bumper, and with that gray-colored plug connected to it's end.

I am just guessing here, but if the car came with an engine block header, maybe they followed the instructions to install the block heater. The instructions say "remove the bumper cover". So they forgot to re-connect that connector. But I am just guessing.

Probably or it came loose. I don't know how it looks plugged in. So if somebody has a 2009-2014 model, I hope for a picture of how it looks like.
thanks

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm still trying to find out how to plug it in, I see the clip but it doesn't slide in.
