I acutally just got this deal by them offering it to me! They called my house 11 times when i wasn't home and my parents yelled at them for calling so much. Then on the 12th time they called, i answered and said No, i don't want it please stop calling me. He said, well this is and i quote "our Last Chance Department." He then offered me the $77 a year and i said ok quickly....lol. I was planning on trying this method but never got around to it and since they offered it i said yes! But i am enjoying it a lot!

They said, "Yes, would you like to accept that offer?"

I said, "Yes, yes I would."

Gave them the radio code, paid them right away with a credit card, and it's all set.
Did this a few minutes ago, and now I have it another year. Thanks!

I called customer service yesterday and told them that I received a promo paper to renew - the code was winback. The guy told me that they don't send promos to existing customers and that I would need to fax in a copy to him.

Today I called customer service again and this time went according to the script. I asked when the subscription was due to expire, she told me that it already expired in July. I told her that in that case I want to cancel it due to the charges being too much and right away she offered me a discounted rate (3 months off). I told her that I rather pay for the whole year up front and she offered me an extension for $77 for the year.

I just checked my credit card, and it was charged for $77. So to the rest of you guys, sticking to the script is the best and easiest way to get this done

I'm new here, but been lurking for a couple of months. My 3 month trial ended Monday. I called them last night and used the "script" and had no problems. Well, I thought I had no problems. My radio did not reactivate. I tried refreshing it through the web site this morning and it still didn't work. Has anyone else had a problem with picking up the signal so it will reactivate? I had my car sitting out in the open, and the radio on for at least 20 min. both times. I'll call them at lunch and get them to check it out, but was wondering if anyone else experienced this. Thanks, and love the site!

I called just now and received the promotion! My subscription actually expires in a week, but it still works. The rep didn't ask questions either and I used the script.

XM radio deal still valid

It's twoo, it's twoo! I called the 800 number, connected to a customer care person, mentioned the $77 flyer, and he asked if I wanted to take advantage of the offer - i said "yes". Done deal! Thanks for the tip!

Your radio ID number (Channel 0 on the XM dial) and your credit card info.

Radio expired yesterday. Signed up today following the script. Was never asked for a promotion code.

The CS asked if I wanted it to expire or auto-renew in one year. I asked if it would auto-renew at the same rate and she said she "didn't think so, this is a one-time package".

Quick and easy.

When to Renew ???

I just got my first bill from XM, after my three-month trial on my new TSX.

The trial deal expires on September 28.

Should I wait until after this trial subscription expires to make the $77-with-winback call?

Or could I, should I, call them earlier?

Thanks!

David

Call and cancel the subscription. You do not want it at that full price.

They may offer you the deal when you explain that the price is too high.

If they don't, just let it die and then call a couple days later and RECITE THE SCRIPT.

Good luck.

Still works. But when I mentioned "winback", he asked me if I meant "welcome back". So my guess is that might be the new "secret code".

I just got a call tonight from XM, asking me if I was ready to renew (my 3 free months expires in 2 weeks). I asked them the price (not having my computer on to recite the script, and making it up as I went along!), and told them $12.95 was way too high, and that I was told upon purchasing the car that I would only pay $77/year. When I explained there was a promotional code that I couldn't remember and was going to call them back with it when I found it, they gave it to me for $77/year.

I was going to use the "I'm thinking of going with Sirius instead of XM" argument to get a lower price, but that's useless if the XM/Sirius merge goes through! So I'll stick to the script!

I just successfully renewed my subscription for $77. I told the rep that $12.95 was to expensive and can't continue to the service after trial period. I want to cancel. Then he offer $77 dollars a year to me. No hassle at all.

Another Satisfied customer

I just did the $77 dollar a year renewal. She was not familiar with the code so I told her that I knew someone else who had bought a car around the same time as me and received the $77 flyer in the mail. She told me that they send flyers out to a select few to drum up business and she then told me she could not help me but knew someone else who could and transferred me over. I got it with no problem. I should mention that she told me when my year is up I should call the day before it runs out and "Renegotiate" with them so that i do not have to pay the full price for the following year. Also, If you register your credit card with them, You will automatically be charged at the regular rate when your year runs out so you are better off receiving invoices and paying as you go.

Thanks to all on this thread. You are providing a valuable service

Not necessarily. I did the $77 renewal in July, just got around to paying last week. Since I was paying by credit card, I got $12.95 deducted from that price.
Next year, about 1 month before my renewal, all I need to do is call up, and ask to discontinue autobilling (which I did this year as well). I can say I'm going to cancel that card, I'm not sure if I'll be keeping the service, whatever (don't think they even ask why). Then you just go the renewal process again.

Bought my TSX in July 2005. Let the trial subscription expire in Oct 2005 and called them up and got $77 for a year. When I got the renewal notice September 2006 I called up and said to let it expire. They asked why, I said it isn't worth $144. They offered to renew at $77 a year. Got the new renewal notice yesterday, called today, had the same discussion and got the same $77 deal.

Btw, this isn't part of a plan to save money. I really only listen to the DC traffic reports, which are worth $6 a month but not $10 or more. So I would not have renewed it unless I got the $77 deal.

Just got it boys and girls.

Very painless.

- Called the number (1-800-643-6032) and hit 0 to get connected to a real person.
- Said that my 3-month test drive is coming to an end and I'm familiar with the plans, but would like to save some money and wondering if there are any promotions.
- She said that she can only give me a promotion if I got a flier.
- I said, my buddy just got one and I have it in my hands and that the code is "winback" for $77/year.
- She said, awesome, no problem and hooked me up right away w/o any questions asked.

I love XM and would have paid $12.95/mo if I had to, but this makes it so much more better.

Thank you!

You're welcome, Dimitry....

It would have been even more painless if you had followed the SCRIPT and the instructions. I keep reminding people that this is not a "normal" promotion. It is a special, little known program to get old customers back in the fold. Many CSRs don't even know about it until you read them the SCRIPT linked in Post #251.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=251

It is a mistake to say you know someone else that got the deal. It is not a public promotion available to anyone. You have to be in the target group and be invited. IOW, your mother may have gotten the deal but it doesn't entitle YOU to it.

That is why there are specific instructions and a suggested script to make things go smoothly. If you deviate from that, you're on your own. If a lot of people start going their own way, they may just shut the program down.

All's well that ends well so congrats on your success.

Makes sense. I read a bit through this thread (and there were too many pages to go through) and didn't actually find the SCRIPT that people were referring to. I wish this was linked in post #1 of this thread

Good things though, hopefully this will help anyone else trying to do this and will help us all in the future.

Thanks,
Dimitry

I just got the year for $72 and not $77?

XM had been calling our house for a week or two nonstop. Finally stopped calling a couple days ago and my XM stopped working yesterday.

I gave them a ring and mentioned I received a flier for $77 and the woman goes "OK we can do that, but it's actually $72..."

No complaints here.....

well i called xm last saturday to actually cancel my account. my subscription was set to expire that day, and i was upset because when i renewed last year, i was assured that they wouldn't automatically renew my account. apparently, it's the rule to renew it automatically now. and i was also upset because they had a completely different email address, credit card, phone number, and address on file for me.

anyways,

the lady transferred me to another department, and the new service rep asked why i wanted to cancel. i gave the following reasons: automatically renewing my subscription when i was told it wouldn't, having completely wrong info for me, and the prices.

so she offered the $77/year rate, and i took it.

this will be the 3rd year with the $77/year rate.

$77 a year is still working! Just got my first renewal no problems, no questions asked.

I used the script as mentioned in this thread, I canceled FIRST and let it expire and get shut off, and it worked like a charm.

Do it this way and you'll get it too!

when my 3 month trial ended last year, i did the script and got the $77 deal thanks again guys

Now, my $77/yr deal was running out and the novelty of XM wore off so i called to cancel (saying i barely listen to it so its too pricy) and they offered it to me again, so i just did it since its still good for long trips to vegas, SD and SF (where normal radio doesn't cut it).

found out i called too late and auto renewal kicked in at the normal price for 3 months, they just charged me the difference and extended it to a year.

So it seems the "it costs too much" strategy works as long as it sounds believable (which is easy since it is )

hi, my 3 month trial expired last October and I never called in to renew the service. Is it possible to call in and tell them about this deal and still get it?
