Will a TL-S or 2009 TSX steering wheel fit 06-08 TSX?

I noticed that they both have similar functions and buttons.. was wondering if we can use the TL Type S and/or 2009 TSX steering wheel on our 2006-2008 TSX. Has anyone tried it before? Would it be a direct swap? Would it even work?

Thanks!!!

PS

I was also wondering if the new TSX steering wheel would work as well??

I am not a fan of the radio buttons on the '09 TSX. They feel quite a bit cheaper and are much smaller than what you have currently. I'm vote for the TL steering wheel but can't help ya out as far as compatibility. I would venture a yes but you never know.

IIRC someone asked about compatibility of other Acura wheels before ... did you try searching?

that TL-S steering wheel looks nice but our cars don't come type S so it'd be lame unless you can take the type s badge off

Nevermind how it looks ... is the wiring even compatible.... You'd probably have to review service manual wiring diagrams, particularly the pin-out.

By "'05," Esquee, I presume you mean a 2005 TSX. If you mean TL, then go directly to tl.acurazine.com, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.

The functions are probably the same ... switches that close a circuit momentarily (a guess).

I like the new TSX steering wheel If we can swap EP3 or S2K steering wheels on the 1st Gen TSX I don't see why not. If you know someone who has a 2nd Gen TSX you should try swapping steering wheels, it's fairly simple.

The actual wheel swap probably isn't the issue, its the buttons on the wheel. Compatibility is the issue. The TL wheel has an extra button on it for the MID that the TSX doesn't have. The TL MID setup is different and makes use of a third button. That would make me think it might now work. I can't vouch for it, but I'm guessing the 09 TSX MID works the same as the TL and makes use of the third button.

As far as actual button function, I read somewhere in here that the radio buttons work on a 2 wire system. There's a hot and return and the different buttons add varying levels of resistance to the circuit. The fewer wires you have running through the rotating wheel, the better being the philosophy behind that.

If somebody has the electrical manuals for the year of TSX in question and the TL or 2G TSX electrical manuals I'm sure you could figure it out.

And IIRC the S2K wheel and EP3 wheels don't have the function buttons on them that the stock TSX wheel does. You lose MID and radio buttons. I read a thread on the TL side about swapping out the S2k and RSX wheels for 2G TL wheels. Other than the airbags (single stage in the older models vs dual stage in the newer ones) its a direct swap. You just lost the audio controls. None of the cars in question have the MID though.

Did anyone try to fit the TSX 09 Steering wheel onto a TSX06 ?

I have not seen an answer on this one. I would be interested to know if someone tried to swap steering wheels and managed to keep all bottons and SRS working.

One thing I noticed when I had an 09 TSX loaner for 3 weeks was that it had an extra button in the bottom right of the steering wheel (for the MID). The 1st gen TSX only has two buttons, and the 2nd gen has 3. I would always get confused when I tried to hit the buttons and didn't know which one I was hitting.

Interesting question...don't know if it's possible and I'll probably never do it.

Because the same thing is being discussed here.

Revival to this thread!

Has anyone managed a steering wheel swap from a CU2 (second gen) to a CL9 (first gen)?

Anyone even know if it is possible?

Why is it important to do this?
Will the car perform better?
No disrespect, but it seems like a bunch of extremely unnecessary work and thought for a next to nothing improvement?

I agree with you to some extent oldguytsxer, but imo huge body kits are monumentally useless and overpriced, as their is zero net gain to performance.

Sometimes however, it's not about the function, it is about the form of the product. If it makes the user happy, then go 4 it!

Also, you learn and have fun along the way.

but then again, thats just my .

Functional paddle shifters.

Necro post.

Yes, it is possible. I did it on my CL9. Everything is fully functional except the extra MID info button and navi switches (my car doesn't have navi).

The connector to the clock spring for the TSX is different than that of the TL-S. What did you do to make the wiring work?

The top is the connector for the TL-S and the bottom is the connector for the TSX that goes from the steering wheel to the clock spring
