Solely for esthetic purposes... looks nice I must admit... but personally, I would never get them as it's just a waste of $$$.

I think they work great on cars I have driven in Europe. I have gone to Germany and Sweden several time and think they work great in bad weather. The spray is very high pressure and blows the dirt off.

The only downside is when you use the windshield washer and your car is clean you can see the residue of the spray on the hood.

However, if you do a lot of highway in snowy areas where salt is used on the roads, those headlight washers are fantastic.

Thats True, I had an 06 VW GTI with them and every third time you washed your windshield they would pop up and spray water out.

^^that would be the reasoning behind the posting of the second pic, you have to squint to see them in the first pic.

They are OEM headlight washers in Aussieland and parts of Europe.

Guess they figured it wasn't something Americans would pay extra for, and when I say extra I mean added to the MSRP.

yah I've seen them in action on a GTI and they are really not necessary. The mist from the nozzle get all over the car including the side driver and passenger windows.

Audi and VW same company. Atleast two people in a row will tell you that they are a messy, show-off, non necessary accessory to have.

I think it looks cool once you notice it's there because it makes the hood line continue beyond the headlight into the bumber. If that looks nice but you don't actualy need a headlight washer maybe you can place a little pin stripe or two and get a similar effect. I bet that could look cool.

They are required by some European countries on cars with HIDs. The idea being to reduce glare for oncoming traffic. Along the same lines some countries have introduced the requirement of auto leveling headlights if you have HIDs. I'd really like to see that feature trickle down into the next gen Acuras way more than the washers.

Can anyone ID the rims in the first pic?

Not to hijack the thread, but since the OP's question has been answered already, can someone ID the rims in the first pic? Those are one of the nicest rims I've seen on a TSX...

I actually like the rims in the 2nd pic on the ASM better... can anybody ID those too?

Is it just me, or does the middle PWP in the 1st pic not have a sunroof? Is the sunroof optional in Oz?

My thought is the exact opposite. They ruin the smooth bumper lines.

I like them and wish more cars (especially mine!) had them. Why? Safety > worrying about dirt on the hood.

I've had many, many trips in my cars where I wished I had a headlamp washer simply because of the grime on the road from salt/sand on the road in winter. And in that weather, who the hell really cares what your car looks like (as it's covered in brine anyhow!)... better to be safe and able to see, than in the ditch with a clean car!

I agree totally; had them on a number of the Audi's I drove. My guess is those that disparage the concept either haven't used them or haven't used them correctly. For one thing, on the Audi (and I'll assume other European cars) they only operate with the headlights on. When you pull the lever for the windshield washers, you have to hold the lever at least 2 seconds for the headlight washers to operate. You could pump the lever for the windshield washer and not engage the headlight washers. Believe me, if you're driving on snowy, sandy, salt covered roads at night, they're a handy item (and who cares if there's some over spray; that's the least of your problems in those driving conditions). I'd gladly pay extra for the option if it was available. This is another example of how the Europeans (and maybe the Japs) take their driving more seriously than us lightweights here in the states.

Look like headlamp washers to me. Must be a Euro bumper or something. I'm with Tony4311, they clutter up otherwise clean line. If they're fake, so much more ricey.

Actually, in some applications, they're required. Further reading.

BTW, Simba, "Japs" is a slur term from WWII not in much use anymore. I got chided for using it 10 or more years ago. Just thought I'd mention.

I have these (wipers and the washers) on my 1986 Benz 190e. They've been standard on Euro vehicles for quite awhile.

That's pretty much it.I'm in Australia and the Luxury model(which i have)comes standard with the headlight washers which only work when your headlights are on.apparently by law cars in Australia with HIDs must have washers and auto levelers.

it's just the a-spec lip for 2006-2008 models.

since they're all pwp in the first pic, i'm going to assume you mean the one in front.

for full msrp you can get them from your acura dealer.

or you can go on ebay and some acura dealers have ebay stores that sell accessories cheaper.
