What is this metal part hanging from my car?

I just noticed that my car was rattling this afternoon and went to look underneath where I noticed a metal round piece hanging down from the undercarriage. Does anybody know what this part is and whether I will likely need to replace it or it's a simple fix? Thanks in advance.

its either the heat shield for the catalytic converter is loose or the whole catalytic converter is dangling from the mid pipe.

If it's just the heat shield, it should be a quick fix.

Its the catalytic converter heat shield. If it was the whole converter, you'd hear WAY more than a rattle...the fumes would be in the cabin...and a check engine light would be on

An upper/lower shield shell and hardware should be like $50 from bernardiparts or curryacuraparts or similar

Your looks better than mine did in this thread.

I had difficulty getting the four mounting bolts removed due to corrosion.
