What to look out for when checking out 2006 TSX 6MT with 130K miles
 

There's a pretty good deal on this car locally. It has 130k miles, two owners. The Carfax is clean.

But i have no idea what goes wrong around how many miles for this model. Any major maintenance item to do around 130k miles for this car?

There is a big 105K service with spark plugs, valve cover gasket, valve adjustment, and oil change. Can also include could include water pump, antifreeze, serpentine belt kit if they are original or starting to give issue. Other items would be brake fluid every 3 years, power steering fluid, cabin filter, and engine air filter if due. If you don't have any proof this was done, you might have to include those maint items in the purchase price. If everything was done, it is just mostly fluid and filter changes until the next 210K service (not including parts failures along the way).

Problem areas I've had on my 06 TSX with +150K with A-Spec suspension+Progress RSB are:
- alternator replaced (purchased local for $120+$90 labor)
- A/C compressor replaced (new $130 eBay+$500 labor)
- Power steering pump replaced (used $110 on eBay+ $100 labor)
- Power steering rack replaced (new $250 Amazon+ $250 labor)
- front passenger control arm replaced
- rear camber kit added
- snapped one OEM rear endlink and with aftermarket Fastline adjustable endlinks
- radiator overflow hose was sucking air into the radiator causing the cabin heater not to work because of air pockets.

All the issues I've had with my TSX started after 100K. The dealership will charge you +$2400 to replace an A/C compressor compared to buying the parts yourself and using a local shop for around $500-$600 total. Minor maint issues might be a good way to get a great price on the best TSX made from the 1st and 2nd Gen run.

Other items to watch out for (I haven't had yet):
- bad HID or ballast
- cracked fogs or inop
- bad key fob
- door and/or trunk actuators
- alignment issue with worn suspension parts
- bad CD/DVD reader if the TSX has navi
- bad bluetooth module (might be disconnected if it runs down the battery)
- bad passenger side air bag weight sensor (can't tell if someone is sitting in the seat with the seatbelt closed)
