What do you hate most about your TSX?
#3
There's a love/hate thread not too far back, but apreciate the focus of this thread.
I'm hating the 6000 rpm vtec kick-in point. It's like having half a fast car because no-matter how you shift it's only on half of the time. The Hondata will cost nearly $600 when it comes out but I'm thinking I have little recourse.
I apreciate an engine with high end torque, but in practice it sure takes a long time to climb up to 5000+ rpms without low-end torque.
The torque steer during hard acceleration is a little unsettling because the characteristic of the steering changes on you all of the sudden and it pulls side to side, but FWD is good for slippery roads so it's worth the trade off.
A lot of people dislike the drive by wire, but I think I've successfully forgotten it's there in light of more serious issues.

I think I've seen a bunch of threads like this, my least favorite thing about the car is the hollow doors when you don't close them juuuust right. Been banging around the idea to dynamat all the doors for a while.

I love my car, but hate that the damn door closes on me EVERY time I open it. Every TIME. Not just some of the time, EVERY TIME!. Did I mention that this happens every time? It does. I wish the tension of the stopper mechanism was adjustable.

I also dislike the door closing on me. I have now learned to slip out quickly and just let the door close itself. The sun visors also leave a little to be desired. They don't extend to cover the entire window. Road noise seems to be a bit more pronounced in the TSX...noticed this after my parents bought a new TL might be the stock tires.
Other than these MINOR dislikes I love the car and get compliments often.

same thing happens to me. I can never figure out how hard to push to swing it open and make it stay open.

Its not a Ferrari f430 sedan.
Other than that minor quibble, it needs more power, and the 5at needs a better 2nd gear.

I Quit
One thing I can't stand are the little rattles here an there, door panel rattle, sunroof rattle, but all are easily fixed. Other than that I find it to be fun to drive, enjoyable on back roads, good response even if it lacks a bit in the low end department. Overall I can't see another car for the same price that offers the same fit and finish for sub 30K.

A lot of car reviews also used that expression "best value for under 30 thousand", as if a car costing $31,000 is somehow out of play to someone shopping for $28,500 cars. Wierd stuff.

I don't think duplicates of this type of thread are as bad because people's opinions change often, and it's not like anyone is being bothered to answer a routine technical question, those posts are categoricaly redundant.

1. HORRIBLE road and wind noise at highway speed. I feel like I am driving a convertible.
2. By the time the car is going fast, you are either WAY above speed limit and need to slow down or it's time to shift. Hard to beat another car from a dead stop.
3. City gas mileage can be pretty crappy with a MT. Averaging 19mpg right now without pushing the car at all.

the leather seats are too stiff after awhile and my right leg finally has stopped being painful when i drive it. for the past 3 weeks my right leg was hurting driving the car. but, i kept putting different seating positions and finally there is a seat position that is comfy.

Might be break-in stage gas mileage, otherwise the engine should be checked out. Engines that are in need of a tune up can do that.

1. Doors do not auto-lock when shifting into D.
2. Door does not unlock when pulling the inside door handle, I have to press unlock before getting out.
3. Visor is too close to sunroof edge, before I got the layout down I would sometimes pull the edge of the sunroof opening thinking it was the visor.
4. Wind noise for $30K.
5. Road noise for $30K. I was able to cut some amount of noise I heard by adjusting the tire pressure to 32F/30R, however if I go 1PSI above either of those or drive on anything but fresh asphalt I hear the tires tracking into the road. I heard that changing the tires to all season grand tourers like Bridgestone Potenzas almost eliminates the road noise.
BTW, before I get replies on 1 and 2 of "hey tardsauce learn to operate doors", my sister's 2006 Toyota Carolla has the door features I just mentioned and dare I say less wind noise but about the same road noise as my 2007 TSX.

The Honda remnants have been minimized quite a bit. Not very much is visible when you are more than a two feet away from car. Strangely enough, I like having a car that's more exclusive than the more common Honda owner, however, the greatness of the car comes from the fact that it's made by Honda. Just like Lexuses are great because they are Toyotas. Honda doesn't get props because they sell millions of cars worldwide to almost everyone, but all the engineering, production and testing is performed by the some greatest automotive engineers alive.
* Engine (This is the best feature on the car, why wouldn't you want people to know it's a Honda engine? People who really know what Honda is about, know that Honda's focus has been engines since the very early days. By the way, every CEO of Honda has been a leading project engineer since Mr. Honda himself.)
* All windows
* Sunroof
Anyway, if you want more status, BMWs are the way to go. Their overall performance is probably better in many areas while giving up some reliability. I think the interiors aren't quite as nice and you get charged for many options that are included with the TSX. Plus Acuras have plenty of status. Mine has enough for me anyway.

Oh, you just need to recalibrate your definition of fast to match the speed limit.
I've heard about this one also; the problem is caused by something between the seat and the steering wheel.

I think it's the DBW
The cheap feeling of the gas pedal, i want the solid feel of no movement before actual acceleration, i know there is atleast 2 cm worth or movement before u actually start pressing on the gas.
Also the movement from the DBW(Engine Jerk) feels like i'm driving my 6mt wrong.

Also, what torque steer? I haven't had that happen to me even when pushing 10/10 on the track. You probably drove over a groove in the road when accelerating hard, causing the car to tramline.

Are you saying you get most speed out of the car by hovering around the 4500 rpm range rather than winding it up to 7000? I don't know, I started a thread on the topic and it has yielded few responses.
Say what you will about the VTEC suplementing lost torque, either way it makes the car move forward faster.
I think what I'm feeling is torque steer being agitated by imperfections in the road, and that if the road were smooth like a track it might be less of an issue. I read the definition of torque steer and it described exactly what I experienced. It feels like the front wheels are pulling you wherever they feel like going. You can realy tell the tires that are choosing the direction of the car are also dragging the weight of the car behind it.

When I want some poke, it accelerates harder at 4500rpm than at VTEC. Of course, the speed the car is going is slower at 4500rpm, but I was just talking about torque, not power.
The TSX does the same thing even when your foot is not heavy on the accelerator. It likes to follow imperfections in the road when you are just cruising, and that's called tramlining.
