Used 2005 Acura TSX
 

I'm looking at purchasing a 2005 Acura TSX Fully loaded as a used car to use for driving to and from work (about a 70 mile commute total daily). The car has 127K miles on it and is priced at $4k. I don't know much about Acura's other than this TSX was made as the european version of the Honda Accord, so I am assuming that mechanically it is built to last. I'm looking for some insight here from you acura "vets" as to what to look for before making an offer on this vehicle. Thanks in advance. Also waiting on the vin number to check a car fax.

$4k isn't too bad dependent on what you see in person.

Does the TSX take premium gas?

Yes, at least 91 Octane is required. Some folks run lower octane and feel no difference in power and mpgs. I have a Costco and Sams membership and 91 Octane is very close to 86/87 Octane regular gas at chain gas stations.

Mmmm never knew it was 91, I always put super everywhere I go (mainly Exxon stations)...

My 04 is at 224K miles and still running strong. At the mileage of your example, some maintenance other than oil changes are due - coolant, spark plugs, belts, and likely ATF and brake fluid. Nothing major has failed in my car, alternator wore out at 200K, wheels bearings between 175 and 200K. I preemptively changed the water pump and tensioner at about 175. The PCB in my head unit failed twice, but I think that is an issue unique to 04's. My AC is still original, but I think that HVAC issues are again unique to 04's. The OEM brake rotors are prone to warping. I switched to aftermarket Stoptech and no issues since.

If the PPI turns out well, no reason it shouldn't run another 100K

Just passed 120K this week. Only non-normal maintenance items (I don't count oil changes, spark plugs, tires, brakes, etc.) for me were a couple of AC relays, a clutch master cylinder and an O2 sensor.

mine is at 116k, only major thing i needed to fix was a new starter
