On second thought, I don't think I'll do that again for a long while. In our province, everybody has been hit with huge insurance increases, and those ins co. are looking for any excuse to raise them more.

185km/hr-190km/hr when I was going south bound from Newmarket to Toronto on Hwy 404...... that was the only on time I did that fast.... getting old and can't take more thrill..... And also I agreement that just dun wanna get caught just for the sack of speend and end up getting a nasty traffic ticket and a raise on my car's insurance. For sure I feel the protential it could have gone over 200km/hr w/ no problem

Does anyone remember the adds for Goodyear gatorbacks back in the late 80's. They had pictures of cars that used there tires with their top speeds listed. A Mustang GT was listed at 144 with 225hp and aerodynamics of a brick. The IROC was also up around 145 with the 215hp 5.0 engine. Other cars listed were the THunderbird S/C, Corvette and others. If you notice, todays cars are not listed that much higher on top end despite greater HP and less drag. I think manufacturers are conservative today and C/D is limited on track space. If they only reach 133 in 5th, they are not shifting into 6th. they are just doing the math to tell you what RPM that would be in 6th. Based on HP, at what rpm and the lower drag, the TSX should hit 140 given enough room.

Under 200 at the apex of 427N onto 407E, in 5th, with my foot flat on the gas and the car was completely stable front and rear; ultimately doing under 230 exiting the curve, still accelerating, when I backed off because I never go that fast in a straight line.

Hmm, I was driving home from hollywood on the 405 North around 2-3am.
I had the car lowered, with aftermarket wheels and a CAI.
I ended up at about 149MPH (wouldnt go more) on 5th gear at about 5K-6K RPMs.

Speedometer error is not necessarily linear. I don't trust any speedometer reading that isn't actually instrument verified at the actual speed in question.

Speedometers can be overly optimistic. There is another factor to consider. I believe that instrumented testing performed by C/D involves two runs in opposite directions on a flat track to eliminate the effect of wind and elevation changes. You could go faster with the wind at your back and on a downhill slope if the alleged top speed is drag limited. In addition, this was with a 2004 TSX 6MT, so a 2006 (205hp, despite the new SAE guidelines) could technically go faster. Another factor is that cars tested by the press typically have such low mileage that the engines do not yet generate their max power.
I've had my TSX for just over 2 months now and have not driven over 180 km/h (110 mph). I'm still looking for a good stretch of road that local law enforcement may not patrol...

Here's one I made a while back... Not bad for a EuroAccord with 2L engine.. Guess this kind off rules out the 'drag limited' story... Or is the TSX that much more heavy ? Can' t imagine... I've had the car bounce off the rev limitter a few times at 247 km/h (about 153 mph). That is on the autobahn with wind from the back and slightly downhill :-) Normal topspeed of the EuroAccord with 2L engine is about 230 km/h (on the speedo, compared with the speed on my navi it's about 6 km/h difference).

The fastest I've gone was 142mph in a 94' Acura Legend GS/230hp. I was living in Las Vegas at the time and received a phone call at 7am from a friend who was visiting Vegas and left early that morning. His phone stated that his girlfriend and him was just in an accident, because the girlfriend fell asleep at the wheel. She had chipped a good chunk of bone off her pelvis and he suffered a shoulder sprain. So, out of concern I left like a bat out of hell and was going about 120mph from the out-skirts of Vegas to Prim (Stateline). By the time I got there, they were gone so I got more concern and started to head back into the city.
I was new to Las Vegas and didn't want to get lost trying to find out which hospital they were being transported to, so I rushed even more. Well, going through Jean County and coming down a slight hill, I saw a Nevada Highway Patrol. At the time I was going (according to my speedometer) 142mph. After seeing the Highway Patrol off in the distance, I slammed on the brakes and slowed down to about 85mph (it wasn't a very smooth transition). After passing the Highway patrol, he pulled out and pulled me over. He asked "Do you know how fast you were going?", and I stated 85mph. He said "...we clocked you at 137mph". I argued and said that my speedometer read 85mph. He laughed and said, "yeah, that's what you were going when you saw me, but the aircraft clocked you...not me".
To make a long story short, it was a $600 ticket and 8 demerit points on my driving record. I went to traffic school and surprisingly they took all 8 points off after I paid the full amount.
Word to the wise, for those living in California, don't get caught going faster than 97mph. The officer has the obligation of taking you in at that speed, unless you have a REALLY good story.
Sorry for the long post...just thought I would share my experience. And don't always believe your speedometer after it passes 110mph. Like I said early I agree with rb1 on his statements.

I got stopped going about 105 in a g35 coupe in clark county at like 6am. He ticketed me at 80 though. I suppose he could understand a 24 year old having just bought an insane sports car driving it that fast.
good thing he didnt see me going 135 earlier in the night...

it's a car-drive it
since i already support my state enough i do not need any speeding tickets which would also make my insurance go up- my racing days are over and least i am trying. i try not to go 10 miles over the speed limit. top speed now would be 80. last speeding ticket i received was in 2004.

Personally, I've done ~105 while road-rage-passing people. I need to learn to calm down.
Have to chime in with a relevant fun story: did 135 in my '86 Mustang GT when I was in High School. That was stupid. Even more stupid, I was 17 at the time and had a keg of beer in the back. Damn that was stupid!!!

UPPER 130's on the PA turnpike......., there are many places to test your car on that road......,
the northeast extention....., is nothing but cliffs and valleys......, so there is very few places for police to sit......, just have to watch out for aircraft i guess......
