TSX Rear-Impact Crash Test
TSX not fairing too well for rear-impact safety tests. Green-G = Good, Yellow-A = Acceptable, Orange-M = Moderate, Red-P = Poor.

The previous ratings were for frontal (driver/passenger), side (driver/passenger) and rollover.

This was actually JUST on the news yesterday and yes the TSX did do rather poorly. However, Honda stated in report released that "all 2008 will be upgraded to the (something like "Z-Design seats") to meet the new requirements." At least they acknoledged it whereas, BMW had no comment for their's and they did very poorly as well....hah

The way I see it is that frontal and side impacts are usually more prone to causing fatal or serious injuries. Rear impacts are rarely fatal. I'd rather have front and side impact safety, with slightly less safe rear impact, than the other way around. Well, obviously though, I'd rather have all-around safety but the TSX does score extremely well in everything but rear, the least-worrysome of all impact locations anyhow.

Oh well, I'll take a little whiplash from a rear-ender over death in a frontal or side crash any day. Nice to see Honda acknowledging it isn't up to snuff and they are going to try to fix it.

I can speak from recent personal experience on this topic. Last month my new 07 TSX with 250 miles was rear ended. I was hit at aprox 15 + mph. The headrest and belt restraints worked as designed. I did suffer some minor whiplash . But all said I am satisfied with how my body was held in place and how the head restraint supported my head.

Well, I've been hit 3 times from the rear, with minimal damages on the bumper. *Knocks on wood* Seems to be holding up quite well. I guess it just won't hold up well at faster speeds.

a thread like this gets opened at least 3-4 a year. The tests say it's bad, but most owners on the board who've had accidents involving rear collisions say they're quite happy with the car. Search, and ye shall find.
