Traded in my TSX....

Traded in my 04 Indigo Blue Pearl AT and picked up a 2004 PWP MT.

Got tired of the color and tranny but still loved the TSX. Pick it up Monday night.

Looks like jlukja will now take over the reigns of AT defender as I've crossed over to the dark side

Trust me it mays as well be a new car. The 6MT will make traffic a little more fun (as fun as it can be). I re-upped to an 06 MT from an 04 MT and that was a big difference

Nice move. Now you've got me thinking about switching to the dark side.

Mind if I ask if you lost anything in the trade?

Actually I made $500 to put towards the new car. Depending upon your APR and down payment you gave these cars hold there value very well. Besides if you are trading up from an Acura to another Acura I would play it up to the dealer using there own product against them. In other words make them back there own product...if the Acura dealer won't give you the best trade offer then who else will?

Did you remove the mods from the AT and put them on the MT?

I spent all afternoon puting the stock intake and resonator back in. (yes all afternoon, I'm not you ) I'll be taking off the sway bar tommorrow.

I probly won't put them on the MT until its gets alittle warmer around here.

And yes, Hondata is a must. I'll let the effects of this switch sink in with the wife for a few months before placing the order.

If Hondata doesn't come up with a 05 5AT reflash, I may as well switch too. I hate you evil MTs....

Wow dom, congrats!

If I may ask, how much of a hit was it to make the trade? I've finally settled into my automatic and won't be pursuing a manual until it comes time to buy a new car again.

$1100 taxes and all in.

My car had just under 79,000km's and the PWP has 80k. Should have really been a even trade but the dealer has to make money I guess.

ryan that was my plan as well. But since a new car is atleast 5-6 years away I figured I'd better make those 5-6 years as enjoyable as possible so I made the move. I've driven nothing but MT's since I was licensed so I was really missing rowing my own. When we bought the TSX my wife and I were sharing a car so the AT was a must. Now that she has her own vehicle I had the chance.

Pick up has been pushed back to Wednesday since thats the only day service is open late. They'll be putting my snow's directly on the "new" car. I'm keeping my wheels and tires from the AT which is great since my tires have far less wear than the ones on the PWP.

Mine has 91,000. Mind you its VIN # 00032, meaning it was on the road in April 2003.

Cripes, your story sounds nearly identical to mine — except I'm not married... yet. I too have owned and driven nothing but MT's until the TSX. I bought the auto figuring the girlfriend would be able to drive it and she has yet to sit behind the wheel. I think she's too nervous about damaging something.

You did well on the trade. $1100 is a small price to pay for the additional satisfaction you'll gain being behind the wheel of the 6 speed.

$1100 is not bad at all. Consider it an inexpensive mod that you will enjoy everytime you drive it. It's a much better approach than the guy who wants to do a tranny swap.

$1100 ain't too bad at all. I may even decide to do the same if I find a 05 manual in black.

I have low end tourque again.

On the weekend I put my stock intake and resonator back in for the switch. Now its been about 2 years I think that I've been driving with the Injen so I became very accustomed to it.

On the way to work this morning I noticed a huge difference when accelerating. Throttle response was much more instant and there was much more of a surge off the line. Not too mention it was ALOT more quiet and smooth.

I liked it so much better that I would strongly recommend AGAINST anyone with a AT installing a CAI. And the dyno's back this up.

Now, I'll have to do some research on the MT.

I didn't notice a drop in low end torque on the butt-dyno with the Injen and 6MT. Maybe a SLIGHT amount but nothing to persuade people against getting the CAI on the 6MT.

I can see with the parasitic losses on the 5AT and with the larger spacing between gears on the 5AT as opposed to the 6MT, that the Injen low-end torque robbery would be a bit more pronounced.

Thats a tough one. Not too many of us around here. I still think its a great color. I was jsut tired of dark colors and their tendency to always show dirt. When I was 18-19 I was constantly cleaning my car. I just don't have the time for it anymore. And make no mistake when the IBP is clean its a sweet color.

So I call my insurance co. to make a chnage to the policy.

dom: Hi, I'd like to make a change to my policy.
Broker: (female, sounds young and hot) Ok, which car will you be changing, not the Acura?
dom: Actually yes the Acura.
broker: NO!!, the TSX is my favorite car, why would you get rid of it.
dom: Well I'm actually getting another TSX.
broker: WHITE? (sounds excited) I love that color.
dom: (rolling in laughter at this point) Yes, white, its a great color for that car.
broker: OMG, I'm so jealous. Thats exactly what I want.

We finished up from there and I immediately went up and told my wife to be careful cause chicks dig the PWP TSX.

I warned my wife about this too. LOL

BTW, the low end torque issue is another reason why I went with the Comptech Icebox.

are the comptech ICEbox better at reducing the low end torque loss?
