I was curious to see if the Brembo calipers would work on our TSX. Since we share the same rotor and lower suspension, I was thinking about this.

The only difference, visually, that I've seen is the master cylinder is larger on the TL.

Anyone researched it yet?

Have you guys priced Brembo brakes? The set I want for my Corvette are $5,500. Do you spend that kind of money on a $25K car?

I have Spoon Calipers and their really good. I also used Spoon brake lines and pads. The brake feel is really good and firm. The only down side is the pad material, it creates a lot of brake dust.

Forget about the Big Brake kit. It's really not worth it. The Spoon calipers are specially made for the TSX.

Having a big brake kit on a tsx is like having a size 10 shoes for size 6 feet.

Yeah, I reseached it and I know TL brakes don't work on our cars. BBK is the only way to go.

i've never tracked my car, so i'm not so sure if a bbk is really worth it. however, for spirited daily driving, upgraded rotors, pads, and lines should more than suffice. just my $.02. oh yea, and i'm planning on upgrading to syn brake fluid in the coming weeks

Can you tell us which parts of the TL brakes don't work w/ TSX? Is it the brake adaptor or what?

I would also add that upgraded tires will help too. Just about anything other than stock will help stopping power immensely.

I don't have a pictures of my brake calipers at the moment. But they look great and work really well. I would suggest the Spoon Calipers to anybody who want solid braking without brake fade. If you want to see pictures of the calipers just google it. If anybody is thinking about ordering the calipers PM me because the calipers are specially made for the CL7 and are not universal/interchangeable with AP1/2. The issue is with the brake position "Foward or Reverse," and the calipers are Monocoque.

Big brake kits are for serious touring car racing 24/7 and they're not cost effective. The only people that I've heard of having big brake kits on their street driven cars are tacky individuals who believe a flamboyant spoiler on any car is 'cool.'

The entire knuckle/hub assembly, which is where the caliper is mounted, is totally different.

The TL w/ 1 piston caliper will work but the TL w/ Brembos won't without fabrication. At that point and the money spent it's cheaper to put on a ROTORA or STOPTECH BBK.

bbk is nice, but i think a set of nice pads, SS lines and fluid will have enough for a street driving.

On my 08 I used R1 Concepts slotted rotors and Okibono ceramic pads. No dust and it stops fine.

Not sure if anyone has actually done this, but I didn't find any posts to confirm. It appears
that the TL front suspension components are very similar to the TSX. In fact, I bought
a few parts to compare and I've concluded that yes, the TL Brembo calipers can be
installed on the TSX if these parts are also changed (using TL parts):

Knuckle
Splash Shield
Hub
Rotor
Tie Rod End
Brake Lines
Caliper (of course)

I now have all the pieces, but not sure when I'll have time to install them. I'll post
pics when I start working on it.

By the way, there is no issue with brake balance as the TL
Brembo caliper has less than 1% more effective piston area
than the stock TSX caliper.

Any updates? Also, if there is so little extra piston area, then it either isn't worth the effort, or piston area isn't the effective measurement to take. What's the difference in pad sweeping area between the two? If you did the swap already, was it worth it? I know the difference in braking between a 3rd gen TL with 1 piston vs. 4 piston is immense.

I haven't had time to install yet. Although I have all the TL parts, I'm going to see if the Brembo calipers can be installed on the stock knucles by drilling the holes larger for the mounting bolts. Just an experiment while I have it apart. I still plan on putting all the TL parts on since I have them.

The point I was trying to make about the piston area is that the brake balance wouldn't be messed up. The front/rear bias would be nearly identical to the stock TSX.

The Brembo calipers have a kick-ass brake feel and very easy to modulate. I had the JDM Brembos on my RSX a while back and I loved them. The TL brake setup will also perform better due to having slightly larger diameter rotors and more area on the pads, meaning less overheating issues.

The main advantage of Brembo or any other monoblock type caliper is the fact that it bolts directly to the knuckle and has multiple pistons on both sides of the rotor. The clamping pressure is far more even, which is probably why they have a superior brake feel.

I just bought a used tl s rotor + tl s acura brembo and from what my friend who works in acura who will help me install it said it should most likely fit and i still have the stock 07 tsx rims hopefully when i have time i will try to get it done!

Take some pics of the install and let us know how it goes. I think you will have to drill out the caliper mounting bolt holes in the knuckles because the Brembos have larger mounting bolts.

Not sure when I'll have time to do my swap. Hoping maybe this winter.

All u need for this (TL-S Brembo on TSX) to work are:

TL-S Complete spindles ( Calipers, knuckle, & hub)
TL-S outer tie rod ends only
TL-S brake hoses

This was a Brembo caliper done on an Acura TL. I know it's a little off topic but you can use it as a visual reference for the TSX you are talking about.
