Should Water Pump be replaced
Hi: I have a 2004 TSX with 53k miles. Should I replace the water pump proactively just to be on the safe side?

No, wait for bearng noise or leak. Too much potential for making a problem.'
good luck |
Thanks! Appreciate that! Won't do it.
But, just curious, and if you don't mind; What kind of problems could replacing the WP cause? |
Leak leading to overheating is big risk. Broken bolts due to overtorquing (small bolts require < 10 ft - lbs).
Primary reason is that failure is not catastrophic (such as timing belt). good luck |
agreed, first timers or inexperienced mechanics will mess up things...however; skilled mechanics can replace things without breaking stuff. lol
a lot of times, people(unskilled mechanics) will break things and not tell you, until next time you go to change it out and find they absolutely FUBAR'd it and took a backyard approach to fix it; ie; not replacing it with a new part. either to save money, or didnt want to tell you, the customer. |
Thanks ALL!
