RL lighting, have anyone tried copying this?

I just thought it would be cool if we can do this to our car. I remember someone saying that it's best if we can use the glove box lighting as the power source to the the passenger side, but what about the driver side? Which wire can we use to activate it when our headlight is on?

Are those lights the ones that turn on when the door is ajar? Looks like LEDS.

They are indeed LEDs and actually are on when the headlights are on as well.

The Ambient Blue Footwell lighting kit is available for European Accords (our TSX). Converted price is about $200 (before overseas shipping). I actually have the install document for it, as best as I can tell it would be installable in the TSX. I don't have any operational documents to know exactly when the lights would be on. My guess is to could be similar, if I was able to determine exactly what the part number for the RL kit is (consists of cables, control unit, brackets, and lights), I'd be able to see if it is the same).

From this page http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

it looks like the likes themselves are part 002 (with subpart 031). I can't tell what they connect to though.

On the TSX kit, there's a cable that goes from a connector on the fuse panel to a small controller box (which mounts underneath the steering wheel). Then there are cables that run from that box to each of the footwell lights.

that looks nice...i think theres a few guys here that installed led's on their cars that look similar to that...i had led's set up on my 04' underneath my dash on both driver and passenger side..looks similar..i had a switch and ran it through the fuse box in the car so i can turn it on & and off whenever i wanted to...i left it on the 04' when i traded it in for an 06'...i'm gonna be doing the same on the 06' soon...BTW..the blue matched the factory ambient lighting perfectly...

I'd need a location to host the file (an 850k .pdf file).

Thanks Jeff. I got the doc. I've been digging around on the website and i think i found the harness (#12) for the footwell lights: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

Problem is that it doesnt list it on the bottom. Might have to go to an acura parts dept to look it up. any thoughts?

You could probably email Delray Acura with the section (Wire Harness 4) and ask them about it. I can't tell from the picture if the harness is supposed to be underneath the dash or in the engine compartment.

I looked at the 05 and its the same picture minus that harness in question. Did the 05 have footwell lights?

Maybe its part of the 06 tech package?

That's really nice,

I don't know why it looks so much better in the RL... I've seen some of my friends (sadly enough) put cathode tubes in their ride to give the blue ambient lighting... they were impressed with the TSX's ambient lights... imagine seeing that baby.

Good idea but I prefer to get better quality on neon tubes instead of having trouble with neon.

Just buy these or these
and you'll save 190.00 but you'll have have to decide where you would want to tap power from....

apparent, Honda will offer accessory footwell lighting for the 2007 Fit. Hopefully these can be adapted for the TSX.

They already make it for the 06 Civic.

Scroll a little over half-way down, it's the courtesy light kit. Could this be adapted for use in the TSX? I dont know much about the car in this area.

Personal opinion:
This thing in anything other than a "luxury sedan" (i.e. TSX, TL, RL) is just stupid and

All you need is 4 LED's (one for each footwell is enough, and to me it's actually too bright), some wires and resistors...... I got some white and some blue LED's in bulk for less than $15. The 4 LEDs that's in the car now probably cost less than $1 (probably the same stuff that superbrightled.com sells)

Just remember to shave the tip of the LED so that it's flat and disperse the light rather than having that spotlight-like output

Oh btw, you can probably tap into the existing ambient lighting wires so that you can adjust the brightness with the knob in the dash (along with all the interior lighting). I was lazy so I just tapped into the light in the storage bin underneath the center dash.

does the knob control interior lighting? it thought it was just the dash board

Sorry, I meant it controls the dash board lighting (radio buttons, etc), the guages, and the ambient lights...

...well, but isn't that most of the interior lighting? except for the domelights...
