Quality of Bluetooth audio?

My wife's '06 TSX's audio heard through her Bluetooth is awful, compared to her sound system's audio. When listening to a caller's voice coming through her Bluetooth system, the audio is filled with high frequency "cracks" and sounds like some cheap, underpowered, tinny speaker.

However, this problem does not appear when simply listening to any of the same sound system's playback sources (ie., XM, CD, radio). It sounds fine otherwise in all frequency ranges.

Do other 06 TSX owners using Blutooth have the same problem?

BTW, she and I use the exact same cell phone models and I don't have any problems with my '05 RL's audio coming in through my Bluetooth system. Admittedly we have 2 different cars but I'm wondering if this is a problem pertaning to her system and not to other 06 TSX's.

I have the same phone paired with my 06 TSX. Make sure the ear piece volume on the phone is turned down to low. That will help a ton with the distortion you are hearing. If that doesn't help then maybe something else is wrong with the phone or BT system in the car? Mine sounds pretty good when I have the volume set correctly on the phone its self. Good Luck...TSX_R_W

That crackling noise came from the phone. Its not your stereo system. Sprint LG 325 is known for the crackling issue. Try to place the phone a farther away from the unit. It might help. if not you might have to buy another bluetooth phone. Try the Samsung A900. Razr phone.

Bluetooth quality will vary depending upon the phone. I have two Motorola phones and neither experiences any crackling or distortion with either the car or my BT headset. And older Sony Ericsson T616 that I had always exhibited a fair amount of interference, distortion, and echo when connected to the BT headset.

Well said. If you're still wanna stick around with Sprint, I suggest you to change your handset to the new samsung BT phone. I'm currently using them and they work just fine. No echo and no crackling.

Unfortunately according to www.handsfreelink.com The Samsung A900 is not compatible with the Acura BT feature...but it looks as if it may work after all?
It does look like they are finally testing a few more Sprint phones for compatibility though. I hope they come up with something better soon. I don't care for the LG325 at all.

Sprint is the problem. Switch to a better carrier.

In general Nokia phones have the best reception of any phone from my experience.

Depending on where you live I would change in a heartbeat to T-Mobile or Cingular. GSM providers always get the best phones.

Well, given that I my LG PM-325 hooked up with my RL doesn't crackle or distort like my wife's 325 does with her TSX, I shall try (1) lowering her earpiece volume, or (2) adding *my* phone to her Bluetooth to see if mine also distorts through her TSX.

Thanks for the input.

I have a Moto RAZR V3C and found the same crackling issue is my phone is placed too close to the unit. I had it laying in my "not an ashtray" cubby and had horrible screeching, crackling and feedback while on a call. I found that by moving the phone further back into the top of the console storage tray, the noise decreased instantly.
