Opinions on pricing needed.

Hello all, i had some questions i figured i should ask the pros first. Info: I live in Michigan, the dealership in question is SuburbanAcura.

I have a hook up at a dealer who is getting me "the best deal possible" on a TSX new. I'm just wondering if the sales guy is following through with that.

The car in question is a 2007 carbon grey navi automatic. Its got two 8" scratches on the hood to the paint. they quoted me invoice plus dealer cost on any accessories i buy.

I looked everywhere online and the quoted invoice price is $27.5k but the sales person is quoting me $28557.84 as "invoice" and he said he is willing to show me that.

They will not drop the price due to the damage and instead said they are not allowed to sell a car with defects and they must fix it first. the funny part is that my dad runs the body shop and he would end up fixing it for them anyway.

They are ordering 2008 tsx's for june/july delivery on the 24th of this month but can not tell me any pricing/features of any 2008's.

Is this guy BS'ing me? how can they order 08's without any info on them?

Should i wait and just buy the Artic blue pearl 08 navi i really wanted? I dont want to order the car and find out its 3 grand more or something.

is he telling the truth, they cant drop the price due to defects?

Just lookin at what i should do here. I like carbon grey but i like artic blue more. Why is his invoice cost a grand more than every online site i checked?

his final quote was: "Dealers cannot offer to pay your tax and state fee's, so the car is $30755.36 plus plate out-the-door." Well duh but they could drop the price and still let me pay TTL.. he knows this but still i guess this is his way of saying no.

I had thought i've seen better deals on here so i thought i should ask you guys first. Any input is appreciated.

Are there any improvements for the 08 TSX worth waiting for (more HP, keyless entry, and back up camera)?

I would wait for the car you want to have because you will driving it for a while. If there are no changes for 08, look for a 07 Artic blue TSX. You can find quotes from Acura dealerships internet sales departments a lot cheaper. The price of $28,500 could go down another $300-$700 bucks if the dealership is willing to work with you. I paid $28,300 for the same car (06 TSX); but, I also include in the negotiations an a-spec body kit, wing, metal trim kit, sun roof defector, door edge guard, free 1st service, and cargo net for $1700 extra.

Competition between dealerships is your super weapon. Get some internet quotes and take them back and watch them drop the price of the TSX.

not sure to be honest. I'm more looking at it as a better deal for resale value to get an 08. that and the fact that i can get my blue color. If i could get a better deal on the 07 i'd surely take it though. im reading edmunds forums and it seems most people are being quoted invoice nowadays. so much for my "deal" and damages being taken into consideration.

Well i got word back. He will not go below that at all and he claims KBB is wrong on their invoice pricing. So looks like i'm ordering an 08 for invoice plus TTL, but i have to check a few more dealerships and get quotes.

Ride out the wait... with the end of the month coming up, he may be giving you a call with a "we never sell cars this cheap" offer to move it off the lot. Especially with 08s coming out, 07s will be selling at a discount to the new ones.

I'd at least email other local dealers to find their pricing for the car. I had dealers quoting me a few hundred dollars over edmunds.com's dealer invoice which is $28,282 for the car you specified. The quotes came without any negotiation or knowing the dealer.

local dealers had no better deals and claimed to not be able to order 08's until november actually.

the scratches, come to find out, actually weren't to the paint eventhough i felt them, so with a little claying they are gone he said.

so now i just gotta decide on whether i should wait 3 months or buy now for the same price on an 07 or 08.

Some of what he is telling you is true. The dealers have nothing but color combos at this point, they received them last week for the purpose of ordering cars. Dealers don't know of any "official" changes to the TSX for 08 other than color combo's (there are no new colors coming out). This early release of the 08 sets them up for an April release of the 09 TSX which will be a different animal entirely.

In regards to price, ask to see the actual invoice, they may have to pay a regional advertising fee on each car and it will be reflected on the invoice.

Once the 08 come out in Nov, the 07 will drop $1000-$1500. I haven’t heard of any thing major as far as changes for 08 Usually, Acura adds a type-s HP bump close to the new HP number of the next newly designed model. So I’m guessing there will be a type-s TSX with a 2.4L with 230-240 hp and full a-spec set-up to bridge the gap of the new 09 model. Other than that, the 08 TSX base navi/non-navi will be the same as the 07 (maybe a back-up camera, switch blade key/remote, On-star, ???). It may not be worth the wait for an 08.

There are hardly any new 06 out there and the 08 are seven months away. The dealership can really name their price, especially in a smaller market. I did all my negotiations on the internet and I just had to travel to the dealership to sign paperwork and shake the salesman hand, in/out in 90 minutes.

I just picked up my 07 NBP Nav from Ann Arbor Acura today; I got the last Navi model they had in inventory... in fact it was the model on the showroom floor.

Right now there are very few TSXes to go around, and AA said they only have 3 or 4 on order for next month. High demand + limited supply = seller's market.

Good luck! BTW the car is so awesome!

Its funny i cant seem to get the salesman to sell me either way, but i think im gonna get the 07. I put him through enough torture lol.

Just for all of you claiming the 08's are so far away, they aren't. They will place the order for their 08's on wednesday and they will be getting them in July. Thats not terribly far off.

According to Edmunds, the invoice is $27,612 + $670 destination = $28,282 for an invoice price. Some dealers do have to pay a regional fee, depending on how they are affiliated.

My advice, email a few dealers, even if they are a few hundred miles away. It might be worth the 2 hour drive to save $400-500 on the car.

BTW, I'm looking for an 07 right now, too, and the lowest price I've been able to get from Internet Sales Managers (with no negotiation or telling one about the price of another) is $28,400.46 including all-weather matts and wheel locks. So, I'm sure you can find it for around that price easy.

MeHoo,

I just got an email from Pohanka Acura here in N. Virginia and they are willing to give me a 07 TSX 5AT w/navi for $28,282 (invoice plus destination) and free matts.

Not only that, I just got an email from the dealership itself (not from the Internet Sales Manager) where they promise to take $250 off the lowest quoted price plus give $250 above appraised value of trade ins. That's $500 more so I might just give in and go get the car this weekend.

my final out the door is $30755.36 plus $8.00 to transfer the plate i have from one car to the other. This includes splash guards, trunk tray and wheel locks. I am also getting dealer cost on the accessories i am adding, so the silver steering wheel, silver trim, and all season floor mats are all coming in at like 20% off. I'd have liked another grand off but in all reality getting all huffy over 500-1000 bux isnt worth making this purchase seem like a bad choice when it should feel like a good thing. In the end its still a good deal, even if its not the best deal i had in mind. judging from other local dealers compared to other states it does seem like michigan fetches more money per TSX than states like california on average anyways.

Hello, I am new here.

I got a quote from Sunnyvale Acura, CA for a 08 6MT with Navi (white on black).
It is priced at $28,400 and out the door at $31,190. MSRP is $31,005. Is it a good deal or still to much. The sales tax on where I live is 8.4x %.. so TTL is expensive. Looks like there aren't too many 6MT model around anymore.

Please advise,

sounds great-that color combo is also hard to get, especially with the 6spd and nav. you might be able to do better but if you want it do not wait much longer-it will be gone.

2 rules of car buying.

#1 Dealer always wins.

#2 Someone will always get a better deal than you.

Hello all, I just got back from Concord Acura. They have a 07 TSX 6MT Navi. Dark gray pearl with ebony interior. It has 60 miles on the car. Exterior color is not my top color choice (I prefer white better), but ebony interior is. This car has mud guard, wheel lock, door guard and trunk tray (i.e. $552 ). Looks like they are willing to do $27,333. So OTD will be $30,000. OTD price is ~$1,200 cheaper than 08 model. I found out on Edmunds.com that factory is giving $1,500 cash to dealer to clear out 07 model. Now I am struggling in insisting my exterior color choice and get a 08 or go for cheaper price for 07. What do you suggest? Maybe I should go for 07 one if I can knock another $500 off?

btw, happy holidays all

I think Honda screwed this up on the MMC. They should have included this as standard equipment and not have waited for the 09 model change; They should have also added it to the MMC of the 06 Accord. This adds another $500 ($350 for the unit plus 150 for installation) onto the cost of the car.

Hmm thanks all.. I guess I will try to go for the 08 White + ebony and see if they are willing to add couple of option like mud guard etc etc. They sound firm and seems confident to sell the car somehow someday (compared to other Acura dealer who keeps calling me everyday.) Perhaps I will take advantage on 2.9% APR financing too.. as my bank saving interest rate still has 3.9% so far, might well keep the $$ to earn that net 1% saving interest. Wish me luck

Merry Christmas,
