new tsx owner, couple questions...

just picked up an 04 tsx, auto with nav with 85k on it for my new work car...car is in great condition. no dings or dents, the interior doesn't even have any scratches in it. so far i love the car, everything works and it's quiet, no squeaks, rattles, nothing. anyway i'm pretty particular when it comes to maintenance and was wondering what i should look for, do...with that many miles on it. i'm going to of course change the oil, drain the tranny fluid and swap on a new fuel filter as soon as i get a chance, but is there anything else i should look out for??? i have no idea what the previous owner(s) did maintenance wise so it's got me curious.....tia

For starters, check out the wash & wax section for suggestions on keeping it looking great

No idea about those other things, but other people will know

Take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions section under "Maintenance": https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24744

I'd check the color on the transmission fluid & power steering fluid and replace if the color looks dark. Same with the brake fluid and I'd replace the coolant as well. Check the condition of your pollen filter and air filter, chances are they need replacement as well (the location of these, and how to replace, can be found in the owners manual).

Good luck with the car, its a Honda product so it should hold up pretty well.

well i got all my fluids changed and all is well. only 2 things i'm a little disappointed with, the seat slides forward under hard braking (and yes i know this is a comon problem) and the handling is not very good (fwd layout, what can you do) just have to wait for winter to end so i can get it cleaned up!

^^There is a ton of info on Rear Sway Bar (RSB) and suspension upgrades that can address the handling. Most folks seem very pleased wtih the results. Check out the Performance Mods section...

In the FAQ section there is a post dedicated to all the Technical Service Bulletins (TSB)s for the TSX. One of those TSBs is for the seat sliding forward and it includes the procedure for the dealer to fix it. If you're still under warranty then take it in before it runs out. If you're out of warranty then you may want to follow the TSB and do it yourself. Also, someone posted a DIY thread to addressing this in the last week or two. Search around for that.

Can you elaborate on "handling is not very good"? The TSX is a pretty good handling car straight from the factory.

i more or less bought this as a work car to replace my awd scoobie because i wanted something with better mileage. i've always liked the look of the tsx and when i came across this one and the price seemed good, i went for it. due to the fact it's a daily driver i;m not really concerned with mods. i've got way to much money tied up in an 01 3 series i bought new to start messing with this car lol....

as far as the handling goes...turn in seems sharp, but than it just kind of get's squirmish.....i mean i don't expect it to be anything like the bimmer but thought it would be better...i'm going to check out the rear sway and see if anything is broken underneath...i've read there has been some problems with that area...so we will see.

If your car was purchased in your area, you can check with your local Acura dealer for any previous maintenance that was done at the dealer.

Accommodating dealers will run a VIN check for you so you can look at the dealer maintainence history.
