Mesh Screen for Sunroof ?

Is there some sort of (popin) mesh screen for sun roof one can get somewhere ?

So that when parked with roof open , no bugs or leaves etc come flying in....

That's the first time I've ever heard of that..

You could always just buy some screen for screen doors, cut it to size and staple it up there

Why don't you just close the sunroof if you're worried about that kinda stuff?

I'd never park with the roof open... one surprise rainstorm and it's game over for your interior.

Yeah...why not just close the roof? Or maybe just leave it open in vent. Plus, leaving the roof open makes it easier for someone to take stuff out of your car.

Well I got the idea from looking at this:
What's shown there looks like CF liner NOT the mesh I am thinking of...
The mesh idea comes from this pic & the wind screen thing on a Porche I saw today.

You still haven't said WHY you'd want to park with the sunroof open.

I, for one, will not be installing any mesh in my sunroof.

Probably to keep the interior cooler. I live in Arizona, and the interior of a parked car can easily get up to 150 degrees or more in the summer. Sometimes an asshat mother leaves her baby in the car and it dies of heatstroke, happens all the time.

well leaving a baby in the car is just dumb. But if you want to cool the car, remotely open the windows as you approach the car. That's what its for.

Well if they had some door screen stapled to the roof maybe the baby would be ok.

i think its a great idea....you might be able to get an aftermarket one for other cars with creen attatchement(BMW, MB, Volvo,etc..). But i like the idea. if you ever have been in a car wit the screen its just a simple pull across screen that comes out of a small tube...nothing too high tech.

A vented sunroof won't do you much good for heat disappation since there isn't any airflow.

In my experience, it's been quicker to open your windows with your remote before you get to your car. Also, it helps tremendously if you use a front sunshade and close the moonroof cover during the day.

yep. it retracts automatically too. you get all of this without the use of suction cups, fun though they may be....

and they are available in white, but the bird droppings make it look polka-dotted after a while.

Exclamation Why so negative?

I actually registered on this site just to respond regarding all these nasty replies. Someone asked a perfectly reasonable question, looking for assistance from the community, and mostly what he got was that it was a dumb question (why would you want to do that?) or suggestions to just close the moonroof or park in the shade. Members should respond with helpful ideas or not respond at all. It seems a very good idea to me. A way to let the heat out of a car parked in the sun (parking in the shade is often not an option) and still keep out bugs.

In fact, if you search the web for this question about a bug screen for a moonroof, you'll see lots of people asking the same thing and getting some good solutions -- on the outside, a square of screen with a magnetic edge, on the inside replacing the sunshield material with screen cloth in a wire-framed windshield sun-deflector pop-in. Respectable car accessories vendor WeatherTek even makes such a thing, though it's quite expensive.

I purchased my MDX used last year from a dealership in Colorado. I didn't think about checking the sunroof because I usually keep it and the shade door closed (and it was January). After a few months, I used the sunroof for the first time and a ton of dead leaves and dirt started falling on my head and front seats. The previous owners must have left the sunroof popped open in autumn under a tree. It took me while to clean out the leaves and I just took the MDX to the dealership on next oil change to re-grease (still under basic warranty).

If I could find it, I would opt for a solar powered fan that can sit in the popped up sunroof and blow the hot air out the car (just crack a back window to help). The fan could block large debris from getting in like my leave situation. They make them for car windows for about $90.

Expensive solution compared to window tint, windshield shade, and using the FOB to drop the windows.
