K20 vs K24 valve cover
is there any difference between the two? I'd like to get my valve cover powder coated and i can get my hands on an RSX valve cover for pretty cheap. i know lots of people switch out their covers for the red euro-r cover (which is from a k20 motor) but i wanted to make sure the base RSX cover was the same.
also, i've seen mixed results regarding switching out the gasket. do i really need to pick up a new one? i might just because i have almost 60K on the car. i feel like such a noob asking this question but its better to be safe then sorry i guess. TIA.

nope.
not the same.
but it should fit no problem from what I hear.
I hear all K series valve covers can be interchanged.
I just recently ordered a new valve cover and gasket.
I opted to pay for the Acura K24 one though.
In my mind it's the better way to do it, but I'm crazy.
I see no problem at all putting a K20 valve cover on a K24.
go for it.

is any performance lost by using a k20 valve cover? i read something that said using the k20 would give you a higher compression ratio... any truth to that?

I don't know about performance.
One says Honda Motor Co. One says Honda.
other than that, I'm clueless.
I figured the K24 has it's own for some reason or another, so I just stuck
with it. But if money were an issue, I'd grab a K20 one for sure.

The K20 cover will bolt up to the K24 head. If you really want the spark cover to fit perfectly, you also need to buy the K20 support bushings and I believe a couple of studs. The air inlet on the K20 cover is slightly larger (the hose will be a tight fit) and it's missing a mounting location for the right side hose bracket. However, none of that affects operations.

I'll just put some stickers on it. That adds 15hp to the wheels!!!
Thanks for the replies everyone. Now the question is do i shell out the extra $100 for the k24 valve cover? hmm.....

depends on how detail oriented the rest of the car is.
if you have gone the extra mile on the rest of the car, do it.
if you have cut corners or saved on costs elsewhere, do the same here.
if you cover it with a mugen spark plug cover, nobody will be able
to tell with the naked eye anyway probably.

I was about to PC my K24 Valve Cover but ditch that idea because...
1. Unless you know color code well, or else your imaginary color might ends up different. + Mailing back and forth is a bitch.
2. Would like to keep a stock Valve Cover in case of anything lol
3. Can't beat the JDM Red DC-5 cover, it's nothing special but complete the engine bay pretty much for me.

well wrinkle red is not for me.
red is not for me period.
I'm even going to ditch my Optima soon because I hate its color, lol.
I bought a second valve cover for powdercoating.
no need to have my engine open an not working for however long.
as for colors...
every powdercoater has examples of all of their colors.
most of them won't even take your paint code.
powdercoating is not paint.
you pick one of their colors, that's how it usually works.
they can do custom, I'm sure, but it's rare to say the least.
usually it's pick the color/finish you like best and that's it.
your JDM valve cover is powdercoated in standard wrinkle red.

I'm just going to get a different battery.
The optima isn't nice looking anyway.
I'm going to buy a braille.
And by the way, the K24 cover says:
Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
to be exact.
lol.
