I have 193k on my 04 now, but I had to also redo the trans for the same reason at 153k. Final drive teeth missing. It's a rare issue.
I ended up replacing both my axles while trying to troubleshoot it.
Front bearings have been done and all 4 shocks were replaced preemtively.
Serpentine belt. Front calipers. Brake Master cylinder. 1 HID bulb. That is basically it.

Had this issue with my 08 RDX and I just replaced the visor with new one eBay. My floppy visor was caused by southwest heat degrading the plastic parts over time and flipping it up/down to block the sun wore it out faster compared to the passenger side.

217K on my '04 6MT model:

156K Driver side seat buckle replaced which got rid of SRS code
185K replaced right front axle
209K PS return line crack replaced line
217K ignition coil in cylinder 3 failure and replacement
217K (current mileage in garage) oil leak tbd - seems to be front main seal area - I'm working on it.
(and new front and rear calipers... I think p.o. service shop did not replace brake fluid ever as preemptive maintenance.)
(serpentine belt, iridium plugs, valves adjusted, coolant, clutch, trans, brake fluids all replaced - I consider that maintenance not repair)

This car is amazing. But sadly I can't really drive it anymore after breaking my left ankle and needing surgery so I have to sell it next
This was best friend's car for 6+ years and his favorite of 35 cars he's ever owned. He's complained that there is no TSX replacement.

140k+ tsx here. Ehm not the first owner but my aunt was the first owner, the car had some warranty repairs like the power steering leak. Right now the gps is not working along with many of hte interior trim but its because my cousin treated the car like junk and even abandoned it . So far according to a mechanic the lower control arm bushing is cracked and should be of concern as the car vibrates quite a bit when accelerating slowly and breaking at slow speeds and right now the alternator seems to be bad (just posted in another thread to see if someone knows if it is not the alternator). So far an excellent car for the mileage, I used to own a 2007 jeep and that thing had many many many more major repairs than this car and this car has a lot more miles in it .

I have a 2005 Acura Tsx with an automatic transmission. I am the original owner. Compared to others on this board, my car is still a baby. I am at 157,500 miles. Original engine and transmission. Have replaced the alternator and starter. When both of these parts went bad on two separate occasions years apart, I got warnings to replace them. The alternator battery light turned on in my dashboard and I was able to drive it to my mechanic to change the alternator. Several years later, the starter was weak. Difficulty starting the car when cold. I again drove the car to mechanic and he replaced part.

This amazing car has never left me stranded in 13 plus years of driving it. I have never had to call a tow truck. I am not giving it up for anything in the world.

I'm at around 110,000 miles on my '06 6-speed. It's needed nothing so far, although I have flushed the coolant and changed the manual gear oil. Changing the gear oil made the smooth shifting even smoother.

Recently I had issues with the nav screen, but that turned out to be due to a broken power wire connected to the DVD player in the trunk. A minor repair.

Car is just now on the 3rd set of tires.

Oh, 1 minor issue still not repaired is there is damage to the plastic housing of the emergency brake line. Water can infiltrate into this and then freeze, causing the parking brake to remain engaged even after releasing the brake. Only an issue during freezing temperatures when I forget to release the brake before it freezes.

Was a great car. Don't see as many on the road.

- alternator
- battery (2nd interstate)
- power steering pump
- tires (2nd set of Conti DWS)
- passenger side upper control arm
- HT front/rear camber kit

Everything works perfectly and still doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. The TSX still looks, drives, and handles like she has 100,000 less miles. Almost due for some brake pads is the only thing I need to do for her for now.
An Update to my Update at +150,000:
- replaced small black hose to radiator overflow tank because it was sucking in air and the air pockets in the system was causing the cabin heater to work intermittently
- power steering rack replaced (new rack from Amazon, local shop install, $500)
- A/C compressor replaced (new from eBay, local shop install, $750)
- someone ran into the rear passenger quarter panel at the kid's college in student housing (just a long scrape on plastic bumper part only)

Hi all. I'm new to this forum, and as an Acura owner. I bought a 2006 TSX last weekend and figured I'd join this forum to learn and hopefully get some questions answered!
The car has 204,000 miles. Owned by a woman before me, she did a pretty solid job taking care of the car. She showed up with a file containing receipts and everything, which made me feel good about my purchase.

Before I bought the car, it had the following repairs made:
  • New power steering pump
  • New rack and pinion
  • New radiator and fan
Since I've owned the car, I had to have the following repairs made:
  • New condensor
  • New expansion valve
  • New front grille
The big remaining problem is that I need to repair the nav screen. I've been reading on the forums and it would seem that navigation player in the trunk is to blame? My nav screen works, but is black. Going to see how much that costs to replace.

Also, as I was under the hood, I noticed my belt tensioner was making a little bit of noise. I took a video to show... thoughts?

I donated my 06 6MT with 240,xxx miles to a hospital last December. I had a wonderful last run, 400 miles, first to a friend's cottage and then to meet my wife in Ottawa. The "Check Charging System" light came on just 30 miles from my destination, but I turned off the fan, and the radio, and made it. Six months before the dealer quoted $1,000 Cdn to replace the alternator (the part alone was $600, plus $100 for the belt. The car had some issues which made me leery of investing too much more: quart of oil every 2,000 miles for the last 150,000 miles, slowly leaking ps pump, one bad muffler, intermittent passenger airbag sensor, leaking rear engine seal, but it looked good, and ran great, and I continued to run it hard enough. I put about $2000 Cdn into the car during the past 2 years (including a new wheel bearing and a non-OEM alternator - likely the reason the charging system failed, unless my installation was faulty - and new battery, and new front brakes; the bearing was the only part I didn't do myself.

In Ontario, the government tells you the "value" of your car for sales tax purposes, and I estimate that selling the car for $1,000 would have net me about $500, if I could find takers for a car that needed $4,000 of work to be certified. I now have a $250 tax receipt, which is worth $80 to me, and I can sell the OEM alloy rims for something, since the snow tires were on the car in December.

100,000 miles ago I replace various AC components (dealer), the clutch (dealer), and the struts again (me). During the 5 years since then I invested over $8,000 Cdn in the car, for about 80,000 miles of use: the records are now in the garbage. There seemed to be a lot of suspension issues (how many front lower ball joints does this car have?), some arms, a couple of sets of tires (which all cost twice as much in Canada), brakes (me). The dealer would never agree to an engine flush, so I've done 3 in the past 4 years, which seemed to fix the Vtec/low oil messages the car would give me after some low-speed, hard cornering.

I had a 2006 that I traded in for a TL years ago that had 103K all highway and no parts replaced minus brakes. I just recently picked up a nice one owner '07 with 79k. Florida car and all work done at the dealer.

2006 with 180k miles on the original clutch and no other issues than 1 qt of oil every couple of weeks.

At what mileage are you doing your timing belts?

How did you know when to do your oil pump timing belt? I haven't heard of this one..........

.

First one was 150k, second one was around 300. Oil pump chain should be done with 2nd timing belt

172k and climbing

Uhm where to begin.
I've replaced the AC compressor, expansion valve, and condensor.
Lower control arms on each side in the front. really only needed one by did both anyway. replaced with moog.
had to replace cv axle because I ripped the boot and it was cheaper to just replace.
sway bar lings as they were like 10 dollars a piece and I figured why the hell not. replaced with moog.
did rear conrol arms and sway bars I believe they were. replaced with moog.
Starter (in the parking lot at work or I wasn't going home)
typical plugs and coil packs.
Power steering hose from reservoir to pump.(need to replace the other)
Tranny fluid drain and refill.
replaced battery connectors with bad ass ones lol. old ones were cracked and not holding tension.
break pads obviously
changed to drilled and slotted rotors on the front as I deal with alot of idiots on my way to and from work. (probably saved my life)

I've owned it for 4 years now from 88k-172k. The things I've replaced I see as normal wear and tear. AC lasted 11 years or probably 120-130k. not bad at all.

I'll be doing some body work hopefully in the near future as i live in nebraska and salt is an issue.

I just hit 190,000 on July 15, 2019. Pretty low mileage compared to a lot of you. I purchased my 2004 new on 04/28/2003 right when they first came out. From when I bought the car in April 2003 until May 2017 I didn't put a lot of miles on it because my drive to work wasn't very far. Then in May 2017 I got a job working for Honda of America Manufacturing coincidentally (where we build the Acura RDX, MDX and Honda CR-V) and suddenly I was driving 45 miles to AND from work which is putting a lot of miles on my car. Fortunately one of the perks of working for Honda is that we have our own service center right by the factory and get a good discount on parts and labor.

It has been a good car overall. I had a number of first model year issues that got fixed early on.

Water in headlights (twice)
Trunk wiring harness
Navigation and Radio control back lights went out twice under warranty. Then went out a 3rd time in 2017. PCB board had to be replaced each time.
Engine belt
Front brake pads (excessive wear)
Driver seat crept forward on braking.
Passenger front and rear door lock servo (fixed in Jan 2017)
Side airbag disabled due to faulty switch in seatbelt. 12-28-2011
April 2013 recall (2004-08 TSX ECM/PCM corrosion. 7-3-2013

I never got into an accident with the car until late 2016 when my car was parked in a parking lot some young kid pulled in the parking spot next to my car and spilled coffee on himself and sideswiped my car. Thankfully he was honest and found me in the store and his parents insurance covered the damage. The passenger side doors needed to be replaced along with some other bodywork. Also got my door lock actuators replaced on those doors since they were no longer working.

Some other things that needed fixed or replaced.

Oxygen A/F sensor was replaced in 2015 at 129,927 miles.
HID lamp Passenger side replaced at 136,599 miles in April 2017.
New starter installed on Oct 2017 at 147,902
Timing Chain and tensioner replaced at 147.904 in Oct 2017 likely because I let my oil run too low (was putting lots more miles on my car than I was used to and didn't check it as often as I should have).
New Serpentine belt installed by myself in May 2019 at 186,766 miles.

As of now I need a quart of oil added every 1,000 miles.

I’ve got an 05 Tsx AT that I purchased in nov 2017 with 99k for a steal considering what the average price was for Tsx’s with this low milage at that time. It was cheap because there was a small accident in its history. Didn’t bother me none because I had just gotten rid of a 03 540i msport that was burning a hole in my wallet and sanity. All I wanted was a reliable daily that could do the a to b thing just fine without hassling me with repairs and constant maintenance. Boy did I get my money’s worth. I’ve only just now gotten to 109k and all I’ve had to replace was a new battery(ironically car wouldn’t start the first winter I had it) I’ve also put in new rear wheel bearings, one new tire(but I will soon replace the other 3 and get an alignment) and I’ve also done the heated seat repair with a soldered wire. Aside from that just spark plugs once, oil changed once every 5k and serp belt. Love this thing and it’ll be my milage car once we buy a house and I’ll have to commute 80 miles a day. LOVE this thing. I am having mpg issues currently though. Averaging about 15mpg and all I do is local nyc driving. This is the same mpg I’ve always gotten no matter the car so it might be a mix of driving style and all the stop and go and long idling in traffic but I will replace the spark plugs again and all the coil packs as well as the pcv. If that doesn’t do it I’ll replace the o2 sensors and then I’ll know at least everything is running good. Don’t want one thing not working causing damage to other items. Any advice is appreciated in that. Thanks. I also still have my 04 TL now hitting 160k under my fathers ownership and under my care still. We’ve done the t belt and water pump on that thing again and I’ve just done a full suspension overhaul new lca balljoints and replaced all the motor mounts and got him an alignment. I also do tranny fluid changes on both of them every 30k. Pops loves his and I love mine. Both paid off and nyc insurance has me paying 150 a month total for both.

Your TSX is still a baby at only 109K. Take care of it and it will take care of you. No need for changing timing belt and water pump like in the TL. TSXs have timing chains. Also, TSX made in Japan. TL made in America. I have driven both. TL is faster. TSX is better. Best wishes.

'04 with 218K of big city driving in Canada.

Door actuators
Entire radio (backlight issue)
Alternator
Starter
Transmission (Auto)
Transmission Shiftier Solenoid
Knock Sensor
O rings on the power sterring pump (whine)
Serpentine Belt tensioner
Front ball joints ever 100K or so
Lower control arm bushings every 150K or so
Ignition coils (1-2 failed, replaced all)
Front engine mount (completely separated in 2 parts)
Entire exhaust ( Mufflers and resonator had irreparable holes due to corrosion)
ECU (some internal failure that affected transmission)
Glove box (broken lock, only option to repair is to replace the entire glove box)
Trunk spring
Radiator cap
Driver sun visor (spring failed)
PCV Valve (reduced loss of oil)
Vtech solenoid gasket leaking oil
Crankshaft Seal
Rear wheel bearings
Front axle (vibration on acceleration)
HID Bulbs (every 150K or so)
Rear control arms
Intake manifold tube (cracked)

Likely forgetting some minor things.
Also major rust in the rear wheel well on EVERY tsx in Canada, crap design by Honda.

Love the car, but i can't say it's been reliable, many if the issues are clearly bad design.

Love seeing all of these! Recently hydrolocked my Honda and have been in the market fir a 04-08 TSX/TL. They're the only reasonably priced cars on the road that I trust and can see myself riding in. Ride it until the wheels fall off!

Lowest Mileage

I may have the lowest mileage for a 2004 TSX, just turned 64k. I only put on about 2,500 miles per year.
I am original owner, car will be 20 years next month. Love this car, best I ever owned!
I have a great mechanic out in Amityville, Long Island, NY.
Do oil and filter every year, mechanic changed to full synth. 2 years ago although I kind of wish I was still using traditional with this vintage auto.
Change engine and cabin filters every year.
Did front brake rotors in 2014 at 36,000, they were shimmying pretty bad. Honda is known for crappy original rotors.
Driver's door actuator at 39k. This is a known problem on TSX's and Accords around these years.
Serpentine belt in 2017 at 48k just for preventive maintenance.
Water pump in 2021 at 59k just for preventive maintenance, supposedly a TSX weak spot as well.
Had an SRS Airbag light in 2021 (OBDII Fault 61-10, Open in the driver's seat belt buckle switch, Permanent DTC). Bad sensor in the buckle. Acura dealer replaced driver side seatbelt buckle under lifetime seatbelt warranty.
Replaced tires at 31k and 54k. Had plenty of tread but they say you should replace every 6 years or so. Using/loving Hankook Ventus V2.
I used to use regular gas until about 8-10 years, now I use plus.
