Replace the transmission 3 times it failed at 125,000 due to a clog in the filters and did a drop in with another tranny with 66k miles and failed after I added another 60k.

This past transmission was rebuilt not by acura, and it only last 20k miles.

sad to see it go, but it had a good run!
It be getting rebuilt by a local performance shop. They were looking to buy the body and rebuild it up.

2) when the first (and original) transmission failed, did car leave you stranded or where you able to limp back home or to repair shop? what did transmission do when it failed? any noises, grinding, inability to start from first gear or inability to shift to second, third, fourth, or fifth?

Internal filters are not replacable , there is an small external filter that you can replace/ wash out every so often. I changed fluids at 40k miles. My car was also mainly all highway miles then to city miles in the later years.

I got slipping around 120k and brought it in one of the acura dealers didnt want to work on the car, so I went a local mechanic that i trusted. They outsourced the work to a shop that didnt do a good job and rebuilt it 2x and the third time they gave up. so my mechanic just told me to find a salvaged tranny and he will drop it in.

It slipped, and then started free spinning and i got stuck with a stalled tranny on the middle of the service road. A bunch of codes came on forgot them, vsa light and some warning lights too. I couldnt move the car no reverse or foward. The transmission did spaz out and lose tiptronic mode. (numbers dissappeared) It would work again when I shut down and waited a few seconds and restart. Seemed like something was over heating.

Also, guy in the 2nd gen forum has over 100K already on his 10' TSX...

150K on my 04 TSX at the moment. repairs that i can remember below:

OEM part stuff
new rotors
brake pads
clutch
AC unit
Cat converter

Most of the other stuff i've had to replace has been aftermarket.

think its time for a new clutch again. This will be the second time i've had to replace clutch. car is running strong right now.

Surprisingly I'm on the same clutch over 300k on original clutch.

My 05 AT Nav is at 130,000. I'm only going about 10-11,000 miles a year now since I work from home. Its still a great car to do my errands in.

Anyone think doing more mods are worth it at a high-mileage? Thinking about finally throwing pulleys on there.

Don't forget to post that picture of the odometer. And while you are at it, also post a picture of the exterior of your car. You are definitely the mileage king of these boards. Nobody has more than 300,000 miles on these boards let alone 400,000 miles.

Didn't you at one time replace your automatic transmission because it failed on you? I believe you posted about that problem if I remember correctly.

I also have an automatic and wanted to ask what the symptoms were before it failed. Several questions:

1) When the transmission failed on you, did the car leave you stranded where your car had to be towed or were you able to limp back home?

2) Did the gears slip on you before tranny failed or no slippage before it failed?

3) Did you notice any type of noise on the car when the car was in park or neutral that sounded sort of like marbles in a tin can and then noise would go away when you put car in drive?

^^Ya, I did have it replaced a couple of years ago. To answer your questions:

1) I was able to limp home, but the tranny was working hard. The engine would rev very high before it 'caught'.

2) No unusual slippage before that happened, but I was always a little suspicious of tranny. My second tranny (a rebuilt one by my Acura dealer) is actually better.

3) I didn't hear any that, but it certainly wasn't reacting to my inputs the way I expected. It lagged when downshifting and shift roughly.

Congratulations mrgold35. We must have timed our entry into the 100,000 mile club. I just reached this milestone this past Wednesday April 3. I will post pictures soon. I am looking forward to the next 100,000 miles. It has been a fantastic car.

I rolled 100,000 last August and hit 109,000 last night.

Just had her in the dealer for an oil change over the weekend and they told me I have one of the best condition 2004's they have seen. Multiple service guys on different appointments have told me the car will run to 250,000+ the way I drive and take care of it. Never have had any major issues.

I keep the car in mint shape, polish/wax twice per year, do all maintenance. Still runs as good as day 1. Rock solid on the highway at 90 MPH.

I love this car as much today as I did over 9 years ago. No interest in a new car anytime soon.

Here's a video when I rolled 100K at 100 MPH. Won't say where!

I'm at 116k on my 06 TSX.
No major repairs as of yet.

Things starting to consider for repairs...
Replace Rotors
Front Axels and Intermediate Shaft (I might have that Vibration issue).
Slave Cylinder.

I don't expect to need to start thinking to replace my clutch until the 150k mark.

Over 146,000 miles. Purchased this month from a girl who purchased from her mother in 2006 or 2009. Most of the miles were driving it back and forth from Dallas to Austin.

My current (3rd TSX) has 183k and so far so good. Nothing more than routine maintainence.

06 6mt TSX. 79k miles, I picked it up new with 22 miles on it (2 dealer transfer to get it here)

The only part that has failed outside of wear n tear is the coolant temp sensor that is in the radiator. $30-35 sensor + new coolant.

I had to change this same sensor.
I bought my car still under warranty with 38k highway miles, and 2nd day I had it an 02 sensor failed. I don't know which one but I had in to the dealer the next day and had it fixed.

I'm now at 121k miles and no other sensor issues

Pulled into the driveway last night with 107,515 miles. Purchased on December, 19th 2005. Hoping to figure out a way to keep this car for as long as possible. But when the third kid comes, we're going to be challenged. Doing research now on fitting 3 car seats, if I can pull it off, would love to keep this car to 200,000 miles.

04AT but just rolled over 70K mi. No major issues. Had the radio display go black last year at just over 60K miles. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it for me for $100 as a regular customer courtesy. Also had to replace the sun visor because it wouldn't stay up. Car is not a daily driver. Its now the wife's car, only used occasionally and on weekends.

I just did the +100,000 service last week (spark plugs and adjust valves). I did not realize how much HP I was missing. My butt dyno feels the TSX power is up 5-8 hp (to factory 205 hp specs) and the combined mpgs are up by 1 mpg. 100,000 miles between spark plug changes seems a little long.

I changed my own at 45000. I could feel the difference afterward.

Neebie to the forum. I actually found this site googling "high mileage tsx" and found this thread. I have an 05 tsx with 392,000 on it and shooting for 500k miles. was looking to see if anybody else had similar goals. im tracking my progress on my blog

i also have posted all my dealer only maintenance records all the way back to 25k miles. original engine, transmission, shocks, rotors, etc...

i'll have to replace the ac system this spring when it starts to heat up again though. other than that running strong!

Clymerdude: I just read your blog, almost 400k is impressive and keeping all those service invoices is very impressive. I didn't read them all just 2010 where I saw one transmission fluid change, what is your tranny fluid change interval?

I have no doubt you will make 500k miles, it give me confidence in our 2010 TSX.

My comments:
-Exterior looks great for almost 400,000 miles, as does the leather
-Finding a dealer where you trust their service dept. is priceless
-I do my own oil changes for peace of mind and cost savings but your method has proven effective
-How is your wife liking the RDX? I've been eyeing that ever since the model change.

Not sure on the transmission fluid changes. Basically whenever the dealer said it was due I did it. Same with all the other service. The nice thing about the Boise area is that it's a big city, but little city feel. The guys at the dealership have been great these past 8 years. The car is always garaged, so that's been a huge deal in keeping it looking good. The princess is loving her new RDX. I originally thought she's put only 3k-4k a year on it. But we got it last Sept & she already has 3k on it. Give a girl a new RDX and she'll drive it as much as possible i guess. & yeas, she loves it. I drive it when we go out as a family and it is a very nice ride. No regrets here.

new here! bought my families 04 TSX for a daily (im a subaru guy) we bought it BRAND NEW on 06-23-03, and still have it. purchased from arlington acura in the chicagoland area, the manager of the dealership informed us that we were only the second owners of a tsx in the entire state. no major repairs besides a rebuilt transmission, and its about to roll over 240k . Might be the highest mileage one-owner car here
