Switchblade key -need help asap!
Hey guys,
I want to order a switchblade key for my 07 TSX, but I'm not sure where to currently find the cheapest OEM switchblade for a 2009 TSX? I'm guessing that would work, right? I want the OEM style, with the Acura logo on it.
Also, will the Acura dealership be able to mill, cut, and program it all? How long will that take them to do? Could that most likely be done while I wait for a B2 service?
Thanks!

Ok, I researched it a bit, and I think I'm going to buy one through Heeltoe?
Anyway, I have a couple of questions.
1. How do I know if my Acura dealership can cut and program the key? Do I just call and ask them, or do I want to ask a specific question regarding the cutting any programing?
2. How long will it take them to do this?
Thanks!

Check out this topic for some ideas on pricing and links to vendors:
https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-2004-2008-124/switchblade-key-756777/
If you don't need the memory function for the seats the eBay switchblades coupled with a local locksmith would cost considerably less than what you're looking at from heeltoeauto.com.
Or if you can find a local place to mill the key the vendors I listed in that link are an option for OEM switchblades.

Well, I took the plunge and decided to just go through MrHeelToe. I'm ordering a switchblade from him, and having him do the chip swap and cutting. I can't wait to receive my switchblade. I just sent out my key today, so hopefully I will have the new switchblade in a few days.
Anyway, I'm planning on going and getting another original key for my 07 TSX. Does anyone know what that would cost to get?
Also, can the dealership program the new immobilizer in OEM key for me?
Thanks!

Sounds good.
So, when I get my new switchblade from MrHeelToe, will I need to reprogram the buttons on the switchblade? He's doing a chip swap, and cut.
While doing the button programming on the switchblade, will I have to do anything to my 2 original OEM key Fobs? Will they continue to function once I program the buttons on my new Switchblade key?

You mentioned that you are doing a chip swap as well. In that case, what you will need to do is:
- get the key cut to match your locks. This can be done at any locksmith.
- program the new fob (along with the other 2 OEM fobs) using a sequence of steps. Takes 20 seconds to do yourself. Instructions are on here somewhere.
You are done!

I don't know if HeelToe cuts the key for you when he does the chip swap or not. If not, you should be able to take it to a locksmith. Most can program the immobilizers, but I'd call and check first. When I got mine, the locksmith cut it and was going to program the immobilizer, but Acura hadn't released the software update for the 08s yet, so it had to go to the dealer for programming. I'd call the locksmith before taking the car to them first. Find one that can program the immobilizer, it'll probably save you a ton of money.
As for the fob, that's easy. Just do a search and you'll find the programming instructions. Takes less than a minute, just be sure you have all the fobs. I think the TSX has space for 3 fobs and 4 keys in its memory.
Edit: Actually, if HeelToe is doing the chip swap, you can disregard the whole immobilizer thing. He'll be taking the immobilizer chip out of your working key and putting it in the new one so you'll be ready to go there. You'll just have to program the fobs.

I'm ordering the milled switchblade tomorrow and most likely will have him swap the chip and cut the key as well unless I can find a decent deal locally.

I ordered from Heeltoe a week ago, and sent my key out to him the following day. I was hoping to get the switchblade last week, but he called me a couple of days after I sent my key to him stating that he was out of switchblades. I was then informed that some were milled incorrectly, so he said that hopefully my switchbladew ill be sent out this Wed, or even possibly next week. I guess we'll see what happens..

Since you mentioned a delay in shipping I checked around here to see if I can save a few $$ on cutting & programing; so far quotes for doing the immobilizer synch range from $75 to $150...

The 2009 TSX key (2nd Gen) WILL NOT work with our 1st gen for others who come across this and wonder. The immobilizer is different and not compatible with the 1st Gen TSX. You need a key from the 3G TL.
As said, programming the FOB is easy and you can DIY. Just do a search and the instructions should be on here. If you get the keys immobilizer reprogrammed then they need to do all your keys at once. As for the price it will vary from dealer to dealer and your area.
The milling cannot be done at the dealer from anything I've heard but they can cut and program it for you, but will be over priced. As everyone said look for an outside locksmith who can do it for you. At least you got Marcus to do a lot of it, ppl who have got it love it from what I've heard. GL and hope you get it soon!

Sacrificing a well-worn master key as a chip donor for $39 beats paying the locals $75 for programing any day... and I can get still get the cutting done for free at the dealership.

That was my impression as well so I called him today and ordered everything but the key cutting.

He wasn't specific JLH81 but it sounded like he'd have mine finished & sent off by next week; he probably won't even receive my key until tomorrow so you've got a healthy head start on me...

I went by the local Acura dealer today to chat with one of the service guys there about Marcus doing the TL switchblade mod... asked him what they would charge me to cut the key and he said they'd do it for free!
Pretty cool...

Wow! You're a lucky person to have the key done for free at a dealership. Cerritos Acura wanted to charge me 100 bucks to get the key cut and programmed or would still charge me that fee if they couldn't. I ended up getting the key cut and the chip swapped by Marcus. I drove there to get it done and it was quick and painless service. The key works well.

Marcus will get it done right for you. When you receive it, you have to turn the key four times in the ignition to get the chip to sync with the door locks and the alarm. I'm pretty sure he'll mention that to you.

That's one of the reasons the parts guys said they wouldn't charge me as the chip and remote programing would already be done.... cutting the key only takes them a few minutes.

I got mine from Marcus at HeelToeAuto and am very happy with it. It works perfectly and involved minimal hassle from me. I just sent him a spare key and he sent back milled Switchblade key. Key worked right away for manual unlocking and ignition. I had to go through a 5 min programming (with both my regular remote fob and switchblade remote) to set remote door locking/unlocking. Everything works including memory seats with the Switchblade remote.
