Has anyone changed their speakers?

I put apline SPR 174A's (6.5") in the front doors, alpine type s 6x9 in the rear deck and disconnected the tweeters. I'm still dissapointed with the sound but it is much better than stock. I need a good 4 channel amp to run those speakers and new tweeters. I just hate keep pumping in money and not getting the stain in my pants that a killer sound system delivers.

Why did you disconnect the tweeters? Were they rattling?

I wouldn't call it rattling. I listen to a lot of live music (so imperfections in sound system get multiplied) and it just sounded like all the highs were washed out. It kind of sounded like there were 300 librarians in the car shushing me at the same time.
