Cleaning Exhaust pipe

So I just bought a 2005 TSX with Nav. And first thing I noticed was the dirty exhaust tips so I went to the nearest auto store and bought 2000 Grit sand paper , some cheap polishing cloth and Mothers Brand polishing cream and went to work. I'm new to this so I couldn't upload pictures but once I figure out how I will definitely do so!

I detail cars professionally on the weekends. #0000 steel wool and Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish works very well. The polish comes in a little jar.
Just use enough polish to cover what you're polishing and go to town with the #0000. Wipe with a microfiber and some QD spray and you're done.

Looks great by the way. Have you considered polishing the muffler itself?

Oh wow thats a great job! I want to do it to mine now too! Did you take the tips off or just do the sanding with them still attached?

Taking off the muffler itself would be a little more time consuming as for this job i just polished the tips and never took anything off. Hopefully soon i will be able too.

I just left them attached and was just careful not to touch the paint near the top of the tips while I was hand sanding it down.

I just did the same thing to my car but it didn't come out looking as good as yours. I'm going to try some of the wool this time, hopefully it will work a little better.

Thanks man, yea try steel wool that will probably do the job I wet-sanded the crap out of these tips by hand for about an hr as they never been cleaned in the past 8 years that the original owner owned it. Hope it works for you!

I did the same on my stock tips as well as my AP2 Tips. Makes them shine up nicely.

Good job!

I always clean mine with rim cleaner and then, steel wool and Brasso if necesary. Lastly, a sealant like Rejex, and they stay nice and shiney for some months.

That looks super clean! I'm going to clean my exhaust tips too.
Taking them off would be easier. There's only one bolt at the bottom. I believe it's a 8mm.
