Check Airbag message.

Hi All,
I picked up a 2007 TSX a few weeks back and have a “check airbag system” message displayed only when a passenger is in the seat. It only seems to come on after they’re in the seat for five minutes or so. Clean title car with no accidents on the CarFax. Anyone have a similar issue?

thanks.

One of the airbag sensors is probably going bad. Have someone scan the car with a scanner that can pick up airbag codes.

Mine ended up being one of the rear sensors. $20 on eBay and I was set for success.

would that matter whether there is a passenger in the seat? It only randomly does it when someone is in the seat.

Also, the airbag off light above the middle vent is only lit when the seatbelt is buckled with nobody in the seat. Shouldn’t it be lit (showing off) when the seat is empty with the buckle unfastened?

The passenger airbag turns OFF (light on) when
-There is some light weight detected
-Or no weight detected; with the seat belt fastened.

Basically, it prevents airbags from deploying if a small child or pet is in the front seat.

Maybe your weight sensor is bad...which causes a "check airbag" light in the dash when passengers get in.

Just guessing. Looks like you have an intermittent issue with the seat sensor that detects the weight of the passenger for the dual speed low/full deployment of the passenger airbag when the seatbelt is used. Acura can diagnose the issue and narrow down the part number for usually around 1 hour of labor if you wanted to purchase the part and fix yourself. Having Acura diagnose and fix means if that sensor doesn't work, the labor can be applied to another part that corrects the issue. Sometimes the codes for Acura can be for the symptom and not for the actual defective part.
