Can you guys help me out PLEASE???

I know this has been up before.....put i am going to print out everyones information and take it to the dealership with me.....they dont believe me about prices other people are paying! so i think this proof is as good as it gets. what i need from you is simple:

1. can you tell me where you bought your car Location, state, dealer name

2. how much you paid out the door (tax, title, options, etc).

3. month and year when you bought it.

4. what model and options (auto vs manual....navi vs non navi.....accessories you added if they went into the total price of the car....etc)

5. any other relevant information that i might need to be a TSX owner

LIke i said, i am going to compile this information and take it in with me to use as a bargaining tool to see if they will go a little lower on the TSX price. Thanks for helping out a FUTURE TSX NUT like yourselves!!!!

>> they dont believe me about prices other people are paying!

Ha, and you fell for that.....They are just faking it. Believe me they know exactly the range. OTH they might be surprised that certain dealer they know was willing to deal that low...There's no free lunch.

>> 2. how much you paid out the door (tax, title, options, etc).

Now why on earth you need to know that ?????

Base 2004 TXS CG/AT + Destination + Nav + All-weather Mats + Wheellocks = US$27,150

1. Do a search PRO and you will find threads all over the place about this subject.

2. Taxes and fess are different for different States and counties...so why would the OTD price be relevent to your home county.

3. Again this is all seasonal...what someone paid in 4/03 vs 4/04 and will pay in 8/04 will be all different.

4. :shit:

5. The only relevent info you need is to stop playing games with these dealers and make them a legit offer you and them can live with.

i'm 25 and with my father i have been part of over 50 car deals........so i know how these things work. i know if i go in with prices that others have paid for there TSX that i will have even more power.

whenever we buy a used car we go in with 10-15 different prices from the paper and internet to compare the car we are buying......every single time we have gotten BETTER deals because of it

all i am asking is that you guys just tell me what you paid for it....

fine.........tell me your BEFORE TAX PRICE so i can have some more bargaining power........

i dont want to do a search because they are all over the place in like 10 different topics.....and if i could get them all in one topic i could just print them out which is an even more powerful tool to use.

so from from doing searches i have found that the AVERAGE out the door price with taxes and fees is about $26700....which is about 25700 BEFORE taxes and fees......i just want to compare that number with the numbers you guys give me. (which is about a 1300 mark down from 27035 msrp)

if i can get them to give me 25700-26000 before taxes i can do this deal.........my acura dealership in cleveland was being stubborn and said NO ONE lowers their MSRP price.......they would not drop it a penny.......with taxes and fees we were at 28300 for an AUTO, non navi, with no accessories....add my spoiler, body side moldings, and splash guards.....we were at 29300...if i wanted fog lights....we were up to 29700 after all was said and done.........i think that is CRAZY

for an auto, non navi, i should be at 27000 even out the door......add my spoiler, splash guards, moldings....i should be about 28000 even out the door!!!

so you can see my difference is about 1300 bucks which is A LOT (which is the AVERAGE MARKDOWN I HAVE CALCULATED)!!!!!!!! if you guys can provide me with the info i am requesting i bet i can go back in there and get that 1300 difference reduced to 0, thus puting me in a new TSX!!!

Edmunds says TMW is about 26400.....if i mention edmunds or KBB dealers laugh....they say "thats just some internet site" "my black book is the one that counts"

that black book in my opinion is only a book that DEALERS made .....with what DEALERS want ....not what is REALLY the value of cars......so i think their blackbook is full of crap!

if you average KBB, EDMUNDS and NADA......i think THAT is the true value of cars in america!

If they're screwing with you and being jerks about it, walk away. I'm sure in 50 car deals with your dad you learned that tactic.

As mentioned before, OTD price is meaningless since it depends on local taxes and fees. Make sure you don't pay dealer junk fees. I paid $25,200 ($1800 off MSRP) for auto, non-navi exactly a year ago when the TSX supply available was much less than now. Paid only $50 in dealer junk documentation fees. At that time, the 2nd dealer in town best offer, was $500 off MSRP while the 2 other dealers in Houston would not go below MSRP, but that was back in July 2003.

Why don't you contact those dealers anyway? Tell them you'll be at their office in 2 hours with a check if they sell you the TSX, auto, w/o navi for $1800 off MSRP. Isn't $1800 worth an 80 mi. drive. I dealt with a dealer 120 miles away and got a price I liked. FWIW paid $25K (before tax & lic.) for AT, non-navi.

The way I see it, bgillette, you heve been pwned by a dealer right here, namely justinjsw. If he tells you you look ridiculous (in more polite terms), then it means that this is how you come by from across the desk when you try to bring up your big talk to them.

You don't even have to search, I linked you to some suggestions on your preceding thread, but you are too lazy to read it, so why would anyone here want to spend any time whatsoever for you?

The way I see it, you have two choices: 1): :noob: and start listening to what we're telling you or,
2) keep it up until no one listens to you.

You're wasting your time. That's not how you deal. Why would you think you could show someone different prices from all around the country and think you'll get a deal? The dealer only needs to worry about supply vs. demand within a specific mile radius. Who cares what someone in NY paid for a car if you live in CA?

Do your research and negotiate on your own. A dealer will sell to you if they don't think they'll make a sale to someone else. They don't care if someone got $1,800 off MSRP if they're selling them like hotcakes with only $1,000 off.

Negotiation is part "art" and part "fact". You need to manage both.

You need to put dealers against dealers by way of internet/fax... etc. In your vast experience of buying 50+ cars, how many were new? Used market is a lot different as well as American versus imports. Start at invoice, add what you feel is a fair amount for the dealer to make and offer that and work from there. Make the offer and email all of the dealers you are considering getting the car from and see what happens. Again, don't let them charge you dealer junk fees and if the price is too good to be true, they'll recoup their loss on your trade-in.

The numbers I worked with 7 months ago...

notes: first # is non-nav / second # is navi
dest=destination charge of $545

MSRP (+dest) = $27,035/$29,035
Invoice (+ dest) = $24,692/$26,512
Dealer holdback = $795/$855

What does this all come down to....

If the dealer were to make nothing on the car, the prices would be
$23,897/$25,657 (includes dest charge-still needs to ride the boat over!)

I don't know of anyone who has gotten below invoice so that would be the absolute lowest I'd even offer. If they counter with 'that's the dealer cost'- you have the ammunition of their holdback amount which they are making on it although they'll belly-ache over it. I've seen people get close to invoice but not less than $500 over. Personnally, I was $1100 over invoice working through the fleet manager in a tough market and am happy but don't use other people's great deals as the make or break measure of a good price. Some people are better at dealing, some markets are more willing to deal. Even if it's not true, don't look too anxious and sold on a certain car brand to buy. If they think you are committed to a TSX and aren't looking at A4s, a 3 series, or IS300s or whatever else you may find, they've already got a guaranteed sale because they know eventually you'll make an emotional decision and come up to meet them at whatever crappy offer they are giving you. Whatever deal you do get, there will always be someone that got better. Never begrudge another guy's good deal.

Why are you trying to rip off the dealership? Ultimately, all you're going to accomplish is to lower the resale price on your car AND MINE, F*CKER. The margin on TSX's is not that large to begin with, Honda isn't gouging anyone. If you can't afford it, buy a Mazda 6S - a good substitute (saw off the spoiler, though). If you want to get $1K off MSRP, you need to go over to Infinity.

Settle down! If a dealer is more than willing to sell me a TSX w/nav for $26,500 and still stay open then they aren't hurting. MSRP, in my opinion, is a meaningless number that uneducated people just assume they have to pay. It's immature of you to tear into and try to belittle him by telling him he "can't afford it" when all he's trying to do is negotiate a mutually beneficial price. In my opinion 5% over dealer cost is more than fair.

And please don't tell me I'm trying to be a "pro," I'm just trying to reason.

Everything is situational. MSRP may be meaningless if you are trying to buy a BMW Z4 or Chevy Tahoe today but that is because there are more of them available than people want. Why do you automatically assume that you can or should be able to buy a car that's in high demand way below MSRP? And how exactly did you determine 5% was an acceptable profit for your dealer? Again, that might work at the Mazda dealership, where they're getting factory money on every slow-moving car they sell but that doesn't mean it should apply to a fast-moving car/model. Advising someone they shouldn't expect to buy a $27K car for $25K and that perhaps they should look at something cheaper isn't condescending, it's common sense.

I don't assume, I did. 26,500 w/ Nav.

Advising someone they shouldn't expect to buy a $27K car for $25K and that perhaps they should look at something cheaper isn't condescending, it's common sense.
Re-read your post and tell me you don't come off like a jerk (and that's being kind). Cursing at someone in caps because they want to get a good deal? Lighten up!

Sure, I'm new here, so I don't know you personally. However, just from observation it seems like you're in the car business, or you have a brother-in-law in it or something. That's the only way I can see your point of view. If that's the case, then here's what it boils down to:
You want to sell a car for as much as you can, and I want to give you as little as I can for it. So we're both looking out for ourselves. Bottom line.

If you're not a dealer... then the only thing I can think of is you like giving away your money.
