Can Honda dealers code keys for our TSX?

I was going to get my key cut today at a local honda dealer because its the only one around. Can they code the TSX key? I called in and he told me its only $45 to cut the key from FLBUSA. He wasn't sure if he can do it and it'll be under my risk to attempt the coding/cut. Can it be done? Need an answer asap if possible, thanks!

YES it can be done, I had my 07 switchblade key programmed at my local honda dealer because the closets acura dealer is either 200km away or in the next country which is tons of work to cross the border for a key. They shouldnt have any problems!

The question isn't "Can they..." It is a question of "Will they..."

I called my local Honda dealer and they said that they couldn't because the Acura Key Database and the Honda Key Database are two separate things and Honda dealerships do not have access to Acura Info. I think is was a cop out, but possibly true. My

No, they can't make a new key, but all they need to do if you bring a key is to use the HDS and program the ECU to recognize the new key.

tell them that you will bring in a key for them to trace instead of using the key database. see what they said about that

wait..does anyone know if I need to bring in a key code. Or will my original key work be sufficient to program the immobilizer chip for the new tl key?

You'll need a current key anyway to drive the car in there. I'm reading the procedure now on what has to be done on the HDS.

Preparation

To add a key with the HDS, you need these items:

^ Immobilizer Key blank (master), P/N 35113-SEC-A01 (Here is where you would have your TL Key)

or

^ Immobilizer Key blank (valet), P/N 35114-SEC-A01

^ One programmed ignition key (master or valet) for the vehicle

^ Vehicle's key code for cutting new ignition keys

^ Suitable code key cutter

^ HDS with 1.006.004 or later software

NOTE :Make sure the setup and time are correct before you use the HDS. Select the F12 key in the upper right corner to get the Set-up Details screen. Make sure Market: is set to USA. Select the time display in the lower right corner to get the Date/Time Properties pop-up window. Make sure the date and time are correct. For details, refer to the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) Setup Instructions listed under Tool Information in ISIS.

^ 1st Password (Get this five-character code from the iN VIN Status Inquiry display. This code is changed yearly.)

Procedure

1. Use an appropriate key blank and a suitable code key cutter to cut a new ignition key (see S/B 99-010, Cutting keys With the Exacta Code key Cutter).

2. Connect the HDS to the 16P data link connector (DLC).

3. Insert a programmed ignition key into the ignition switch, and turn the switch to ON (II). Turn on the HDS.

4. At the screen prompts, enter the VIN and the odometer reading, and then verify the correct date and time.

5. From the System Selection Menu screen, select IMMOBI.

6. From the Mode Menu screen, select Immobilizer Setup.

7. From the Immobilizer Test Mode Menu screen, select Add and Delete Keys.

8. From the Add and Delete Keys screen, select Add 1 Key.

9. From the Add 1 Key screen, select Begin to add 1 key.

10. From the 1st Password screen, enter the 1st Password, and then follow the screen prompts. When you are finished, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then turn oft and disconnect the HDS.

They only need the key code to CUT the key. You can get the key cut at a local place, just follow the directions provided by FLBusa.

Those idiots!! They can. It is the same software load as is used on every other damn Honda.

You should call them up and ask if they have an HDS tablet with software version 1.006.004 or later. If they say yes, then call them a bunch of fkin idiots.

Well, without an HDS I wouldn't be able to help you much on this one. Good luck. Just make sure they index the key correctly per FLBusa's instructions.
