Best model year for 1G?

If it has already been posted, I will appreciate it if you can point me to the thread(s).

Looking for a 06-08 and trying to understand if there are any issues that I need to watch out for these cars.

Thanks.

Not that I'm aware of. The 2004 and 2005 had a few issues with the AC compressor failing but I believe they fixed it for the 2006+ models. I owned a 2007 5AT from about 80K - 140K and never encountered a single problem. It was a very good car. Nice and nimble and plenty of power. I didn't get any better mileage than with my 2006 and 2012 TL's though - around 25-27 MPG

well, at this point...you'll want to grab that latest example...you'll want an 07 or 08.
2nd; used cars are used cars are used cars are used cars. No matter the make and model, the process of looking for a used car is the same.

you'll want to test drive more than 1 example, to get a feel for neglected cars.
Remember, these are FWD cars and the suspension takes a beating. if it doesnt drive smoothly, you already know someone skimped on taking care of her.

take them on test drives for more than 30 minutes to get a REAL feel of how the car performs.
remember, any joe can reset check engine lights at the moment of test drives.

I would make sure all electronics are working, heater and a/c included.
would check to see if the car is tracking straight. Honda's are finicky with alignments.
would make sure tranny is shifting smoothly after a 30 min test drive.
would check with previous owner on when last maintenance items were performed.
if no records, be extra vigilant.
would look for general shoddy work, like rounded off bolts and nuts. (big indicator that it either wasnt cared for or just plain bad workmanship)

The only difference between the models years is they added TPMS on the 07-08 model years. I've had my 06 TSX 5AT Navi since new and now have +142,000 miles. The TSX still handles, drives, accelerates, and brakes just like new. I have zero reason to sell and expect to be well over 200,000 miles before I do. Most issues with the 06-07 model years will be normal wear/tear items and making sure routine maint was done. There will be a ton of 5AT TSXs out there and very few 6MT. The 6MT TSX is the White Buffalo we all want to catch if we could ever fine one in the right condtion. Areas to watch out for are:
- trunk mounted Navi DVD drive is working
- Navi screen is functional
- bluetooth module is working (sometimes it is disconnected because of power drain issue with bad modules)
- leaky power steering pump and/or rack (huge issue for the TSX)
- corroded battery cables
- HIDs are A-OK
- fogs are working and glass isn't broken
- A/C compressor (minor)
- alternator (minor, normal wear/tear)
- door and/or trunk actuators
- normal worn suspension parts (I replaced my passenger upper control arm and added a rear camber kit after 100K)

Just looking at the OEM rims, steering wheel, and the center of the dash where the M.I.D. should be; that is either an 04 or 05 TSX. The 05 TSX added XM radio and there should be a square shaped antenna cover on the rear center of the roof for the XM satellite.

The easiest way to tell if it is a +06 is those models years have fog lights standard and there wasn't a chrome strip along the hood where the front grill is located at. Little harder from the profile; but, the +06 TSX had different OEM rims (rounded spokes instead of flat for the 04-05). From the rear, only the missing XM antenna on the hood will ID just the 04 model year only.

I talked to my friend and the one he bought is indeed an 04.
he bought an '04 for about $5k.
I think there are better deals out there, but you'll have to test drive each individual vehicle and then negotiate with seller to get the best deal
