Airbag light on, replaced sensor, light still on.

Just bought an 07 tsx with the airbag light on. Got the car home and found code "Front left impact sensor no signal". Crawl under there and clear as day left front impact sensor wiring has separated from the connector. So, I got a new connector, soldered it to existing wiring (two identical brown wires, I assume orientation does not matter), and plugged it in. Cleared the code, and it came back almost immediately, same code. I have a spare impact sensor I am going to try, but before i do, do I need the dealer to reset the light or something? I have a scanner which can clear the code, but since the code keeps coming back, I assume that there truly is no signal. Also, possible that the wiring orientation does matter?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm pretty sure the polarity matters as the sensors are monitored. Suggest reversing wires to see if problem is resolved.

good luck

The polarity doesn't matter that's why the wire's colors are the same. The front sensors are basically a on or off switch.

YOU SHOULD NOT ALTER THE SRS WIRING IN ANYWAY ,SHAPE, OR FORM. ALWAYS REPLACE ANY DAMAGED HARNESS.

By altering the SRS harness you may of changed the resistance of wire loom and that could be why it's still throwing a code.

You can check by swapping the front sensors from left to right. If the trouble code follows the swap, then for sure the extra resistance created by your soldering is the problem. If not then your trouble is not in the front sensors.

NOTE: Always follow Acura SRS precautions and procedures when working on the SRS system.

Care to share what those SRS precautions are? Other than disconnecting the battery?

I would suggest that you read your factory service manual for specific precautions when working on the SRS and if you don't have one then you have no business working on your SRS system.

One thing that's not in the manual is you should wear a mechanic's grounding strap when working on the SRS to eleminate static electricity build up.

Is this the SRS light? Or the Check Airbag System light?

The former probably requires a re-set procedure. It won't clear itself.

The red picture of the person and airbag. I have a scanner that can clear the code, but it keeps coming back. Will try swapping impact sensors tonight.

Nice! What did you use to retrieve codes?

Just a foxwell scanner I got on ebay or amazon can't remember. Under $200. Does all OBDII stuff, SRS, VSA, ABS everything. Already paid for itself in a few times of use.

Thanks. I have the same stupid light on. It turns off if the temperature swings rapidly. But then turns back on.

Sounds like a wire resistance issue

Sounds like a sensor on its way out.
