After 2 yrs of owning the TSX, got my 1st speeding ticket

I was going 54 in a 40mph zone. I guess the theory that cops don't give tickets when the weather is about 8F is complete bs. He told me to slow down and said that the Acura TSX is a sweet car, but he said slow down though. I told him the TL was quicker car though. That's all, there goes $75.00 down the drain. Haven't gotten a ticket in 2 yrs, so now I have to drive normal for a few months. Gosh, if I had the G35 coupe I'd be getting a lot more tickets.

got my first about 5 months ago and it was a 91 in a 55 and I was merging onto the highway at 2am in the morning at an on ramp that is two exits ahead of a truck stop. so there were so many trucks coming and they were coming down a hill. Think the cop just wanted to be a dick. Wrote down honda accord on my ticket too. Got them to reduce it to 11 over though for like a 125 fine and 2 points since it was my first ticket.

91 in a 55 and the cop just wanted to be a dick? that's kinda funny and ironic.

i've gotten pulled over a few times in 8 years, i've never gotten a "speeding ticket"

the cops always "gave me a break" and just wrote up moving violations.

we'll see what happens when i drive the 2006 tsx....

The fine is irrelevant, it's the points/$insurance$ I'd be afraid of. Hopefully 1 ticket won't matter.

i do have a radar detector it helped, but sometimes it is a little too late. it was so cold this morning at 1am, around 8F and i wanted to get home, but now i have to drive only 5 to 10 mph over the speed limit now for 90 days. don't know what to do when i have to drive on the freeways where people drive 80mph+ there.

You'd be in jail here for 91 in a 55.

nah, i wish he let just gave me a warning instead of getting a fine. he just said that acura cars are nice, but take it easy on the road. i was at the gf's apt until about 12:30am and I needed to get back to my own place. i wanted to sleep at her place, but had to go to work.

funny

91 in a 55 and you wished for a warning? you got off really easy with only 2 points and the small fine. in PA that would be much more points, and the fine would be like $250 if not more.

Here they'd prolly take your car away for dangerous driving, fine, maybe jailtime but definitely court time. With that said I was in Sactown a lil' over a month ago and rented a G6. Made it from Sactown to Sanfran in just over an hour. Almost got busted but i let the car slow down w/o using the brakes and switched lanes, cop pulled over the bugger behind me

Dude, you're confused. CCColtsicehockey is the one going 91 in a 55. 04EuroAccordTsx was doing 54 in a 40.

To be on the safe side wherever you are: don't speed. At least don't do anything obviously stupid.

i'm wondering what other people know but the "rules" i know is that in VASCAR monitored areas, you can "get away" with 9 miles over the posted speed limit. If radar, generally you can't "get away" with anything, but most cops give you 4-7 miles over the posted speed limit.

i've also heard things from state police friends that people with baseball hats on get pulled over more frequently (because they think it's a wise ass kid).

also, i've read in a magazine that dark color cars such as deep green are harder to pick up on radar.

radar detectors only work if there are cars in front of you to catch the signal before you.

hmmmm, any other tricks/myths out there?

I just got my first speeding ticket today too

I got it for going 65 in a 55. Sucks because it's on a undivided Highway where everyone is going that fast. If you go 55 you end up with people tailgating you.

At least you got a cool cop. Over here in sydney, you get slapped a US$244 fine and lose 1/4 of the points on your license for doing 14mph over... And it's not a cop that gives you the ticket. Damn automatic speed cameras...

the dark colors may be a myth, but it was in a car magazine article.

you certainly need a car in front of you. if there's no car in front of you, the cops radar is pointed at you when your radar is detecting it, and your caught. thats not a myth

That's not quite true... Radar has to be on, constantly, for the cop to catch you, so if he/she is set up down the road, the radar can bounce off most things (trees a little bit, metal road signs, etc. etc.) and your detector can get it out of the cop's range (if it's worth its salt). Laser/Lidar are mostly instant-on and much harder to detect, but then again, those are harder for dark colored cars (that's where you heard that) becuase the lidar needs to reflect off of something (normally, a front license plate, I hate NJ)... if you have a very good radar/laser detector, it might catch it off the vehicle in front of you, but if you're alone and the cop is using laser... you're toast.

i heard that's the reason why jersey has the plate in front. any truth to that? PA doesnt do that.
