Accident - What happend to my car?

Sitting in traffic and all of a sudden I got rear ended and in the process ran into the car in front of me. Long story short, my car wouldn't start afterward. When turning the ignition all these strange lights would flicker in the dash. The battery seems really drained, the windows go up and down realllllly slow and the remote entry remote does not work. My front bumper looks fine. I lifted the hood to see if there was any damage to the engine bay and all looks fine but my battery indicator reads 'distilled water'. What does that mean? Is it possible that the shockwave of the collision threw something off in the battery? Has anyone had similar symptoms after a moderate front end collision?

My local Acura dealership has a body shop so it's sitting there waiting to get repaired. But I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on why the car battery just died on me. Thanks!

I had the same thing happen to me when I threw a piston on my old Q45. I wanted to put on hazards because I was in a dangerous spot at night and my windows were open. Nothing happened. The tow truck jumped the car and the electronics worked fine.

My guess is that batteries have cutoffs to prevent fires or something.

did you check to see if the connector to the battery was still clamped on tight? it might've loosened due to the impact.

as CGTSX07 said make sure the battery connector is tight, I got rear-ended at a light before and it was enough to push my car forward but it started just fine after. Have your dealer take a look at it, thats your best bet.

maybe all the current from your battery surged into all the electrical boards

I would guess the battery is damaged internally. Possibly cracked a plate or cell drained or something.

The dealership will figure it out. You'll very likely end up with a new battery.
