Is it because there's only 5 (long) gears? How can I make the rpms climb up faster.

Faster than what? Are you comparing it against a 6MT? Its all about gear ratios. I assume you're at WOT.

... for RPMs to climb faster, you'll need shorter gears, or more power...

Are you serious? If you are, then I suggest doing a bit of reading on engines, gears and torque/horsepower on http://www.howstuffworks.com

It's an excellent source of useful info.

practically speaking.. use SS mode and press down on that pedal!

don't be afraid to push it, just make sure your car is fully warmed up before goin into high RPM's

Are you sure you have 200 wheel hp with an AT and mods?
What mods do you have?

Sorry dude, but unless you have more than a few mods I highly doubt you come anywhere near 200whp. I have an 06 MT with I/H/C/E and I'm probably hovering around 180-185whp at best...

Hondata seems to be the best "bang for the buck" modification for power throughout the entire powerband. But simple bolts on will help a bit. Some bolt-ons focus on low-mid range, some from mid-high range. A CAI is more of a street-biased product, but it's good for straight line acceleration.

Im not sure how 19 year olds think, but after having own both an Evo and a TSX,
and If I could only keep one car, it'll be the TSX, no doubt; You can go fast (in the twisties at least) in a TSX in comfort, whereas the EVO is fun and fast, but definitely a harsh ride.. having to replace the stock yokohama A046's at 10,000 miles was no fun neither.. and chicks will dig a tsx more than an evo, unless ure into teeny bopper import hoez.. lol

Rofl, so true.

But coming from a harsh ride myself, it took quite a while to adapt to my TSX, and I'm still learning to adapt to it, even after almost a year of ownership. But the TSX is definitely a keeper.

yeah, search the performance forum.. i posted a dyno months back (189whp) with: comptech headers, RT Cat, K&N intake, Tanabe exhaust... since then i've done other mods.. my last dyno was 198whp after adding heatshield gasket and pulleys.

and note i said almost 200whp... but almost there..

Really now...and with an AT, no less. How much tq did you put down? Also. do you have a link to your previous post with the dyno sheet?

I gotta say, I'm a little skeptical of those numbers, at least they must not be corrected or have some other reasonable explanation, because that would easily be a new record dyno'd for a non FI AT.

Yeah, I saw the dyno and it was "uncorrected" numbers. SAE numbers will be a little lower, but it's still not bad.

I've been having a serious problem like this. My RPM doesn't move up AT ALL when in SS mode and flooring it, then when I put it back into automatic mode it is fine. wtf is wrong w/ my car? I mean it still drives but when I floor it there is like no acceleration in SS mode

What speed are you going, at what RPM, and in which gear are you when this happens?

Has anyone thought about upgrading the torque converter?
Do you guys think it would help the engine spool up faster?

There's some info about one on a base RSX in this thread:
