2007 White TSX Tire + Wheel suggestion.

Hello All,

This is my first post and I am excited to be a part of this forum. I have had my TSX for 8 months now and I am very happy with it. It currently has 42k miles on it and OEM tires.
I am looking to buy new tires and wheel under $1100.
These are the things I am looking for.

1) I want the sporty look, so low profile tires.
2) 18 in wheels
3) Durability
4) ride quality will deter (I understand) but hopefully not too much.

Questions:
1) What rims will look the best? I have never had rims and cannot make a decision. I am pretty sure I want black with a chrome lip. Here is what I found

http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/Wh...=&wheelsize=18

And I liked these two:

http://www.wheelfire.com/imagesprodu...1MB_large2.jpg

Please let me know which one of these or other might look good on the car.

2) Please suggest if I should lower my car to make it look better? and how much that would cost. I am on a low budget so I think I am looking to do everything within $1500
(tires + Rims + Suspension)

Thanks all

I don't have any direct experience with the wheels you posted, but I'll give you this bit of advice - you get what you pay for. I made the mistake of buying cheap wheels once - the wheels themselves were under $100 per copy, and it was a nightmare. They never balanced, and the web site I bought them from would not take them back. I would be VERY wary of a site selling a package deal of wheels and tires for under $800. You'll spend that much on decent tires alone.

Of course many people do just fine, but I think you run a higher risk. Do a lot of research on the manufacturer first.

I only mention that because at $1100 for tires AND wheels, you are painting yourself into a corner with the quality of both. You can pull it off, but you also run the risk of spending all your money on a non-refundable item that may disappoint you and you're going to have to live with.

If it was me, I'd spend that money on wheels and keep the stock tires. If you are dead set on 18", I'd maybe wait and give yourself a better budget to work with. Wheel manufacturers with good reps usually offer wheels in the $200+ per copy range. Most tires worth having are $150+. After mounting and balancing, a $1600 budget would give you more choices, and you'll increase the odds of being happy with the result.

Check out this thread for good ideas. https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-tires-wheels-suspension-130/tsx-wheel-gallery-its-back-651879/

As for the suspension, you're not going to lower your car for under $600. That's about what an A-spec suspension costs, which is the smallest of the drops available. There are a lot of threads here that will show you pics of the drops you get with other suspensions.

Whole bunch of choices here:

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...rSpecial=false

The second time I did this (after my first bad experience), I bought tires through Discount Tire, and they ordered the rims I wanted through Tire Rack and put everything on. This way I had some recourse if I wasn't happy with something.

If you are on a low budget-then keep the OEM wheels-I personally like them.

<$230ea^ They are $239 now at The Rack.

Forgot to mention they also come in silver:

Winter set on ostrich's '09 TL:

EDiT: Oh, Sorry OP. Just noticed the price point you wanted. There is no way to get into these for $1,100. The best you could do is $1,500 with a set of Hankook Ventus.

I got RSB/rims/suspension about 4 years ago for about $2,000

Acurazine A-spec group buy (1inch drop all around): $600
Progress RSB: $125
17 inch ASA AR1 chrome $249ea 4 years ago (kept stock tires)
RSB/suspension/front alignment/remount tires labor: $350

I upgraded the tires once I worn down the OEM Michelin 2 years later:

17 inch Bridgestones 960AS Pole Positions in 2009: $950

My set-up is pretty mild; but, it works for me. It has been rock solid for +4 years and +65,000 miles (80,000 miles total). I would keep the stock tires, save the rims for the spring time, and just do the suspension set-up (suspension+RSB+alignment).

Cool

PWP by default should have Volk TE37's!

If you don't, For Shame!

Although not in your price range, definitely worth saving up for IMO.

You can get something good if you:

1) Raise your budget to $1800-2000k.
2) Look for used wheels/tires

I see lots of lightly used wheels in great shape on my local forums being sold and 225/40/18 tires are extremely common - like:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/18-tsw-snetterton-wheels-5x114-3-new-tires-830791/
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/ny-2008-acura-tl-s-gunmetal-rims-tires-tpms-833631/

No one really knows you bought used or how much you spent once they're on your car.
