06 Cranks Slow, Wont Start, Negative Hot
Hi all, I am baffled and need some help. I have a 06 TSX. 180K miles on it. I replaced the starter , battery and alternator a few months ago. Last week, while driving the car shut down on me while driving. I have it towed home and have tried starting it, ive troubled shot the following
1. When initially tried to start, I got fast clicking coming from the starter, but car wouldn't crank] 2. I then replaced the battery and the starter turns slowly and engine tries to start - but it doesnt 3. While continuing to crank it, the negative cable on the battery started to get hot. I'm a bit baffled, as I replaced the started in May. And now have a new battery. - any suggestions would be appreciated. |
To those that looked, here is the answer. Steering wheel pump froze up. Essentially, locking up the engine and that's why the starter motor wouldn't crank. It couldnt overcome the force of the seized steering pump. I did end up taking the motor out, but as soon as I hit it with a bolt of 12v, it cranked. My next step was to remove the serpentine belt, as soon as I did the car cranked up! Needless to say, never have had a steering pump lock up the engine, For those that will now chime in and say..."yeah, that happened to me back....." uh, thank you. Lima Mike, Over and out.

Do TSX's not have electric power steering?
I have a '05 JDM Accord, which is pretty much a right hand drive TSX. It's got electric power steering. |

Also, US Accords are different from JDM Accords. Your JDM Accord is our TSX, and our Accord is your JDM Inspire. (I'm sure you probably already knew this but I'm trying to keep the flow going for clarity) |
