Wiper control switch?!?

I was looking at the parts website. I found out there're two versions of the wiper control switch. One doesn't have the timer setting for the intermittant mode while the other one does. Since mine doesn't have it ('97 is the first year for the timer), I wonder if I can change it to the ones that does have the timer.

Damn thats interesting. I never knew that! My dads 91 maxima has the timer on his wipers strange that the 96's dont. I honestly have no idea if you can "upgrade"/change to that one either.

It would be more than a switch. Probably a small computer box for the controls is required not to mention ripping out wiring...

Not trying to shoot down your idea, just letting you know its probably going to be a bit of work.

Yeah, my '96 doesn't have it. Heh...even my '96 Explorer has this. Sometimes I feel like I'm driving my '90 Accord all over again because a lot of the main functions are exactly the same, especially the hard shifting tranny. I'm still trying to get used to it b/c my truck's tranny is insanely smooth. I don't doubt that there's a controller box for it. Oh well, it's no big deal. I can always use the Mist function. Anyone has a '97 or newer shop manual to varify this??

I dont have a shop manual. Haynes doesnt seem to cover this change.

I DO know the '96+ RL and '96 EX Civics were among the first to have this, the Legends may have had it as well.

Wow. I take that thing for granted.

Although I've noticed that there doesn't really seem to be a difference between the intermediate settings. I'm either on the slowest or the fastest.

I think the intermediate setting is speed sensitive too. So if you're in the lowest setting there'll be really long delay between swipes at a stop but less of a delay at speed.

I want to try this out, I believe it requires changing out the Integrated Control Box as well. Does anyone have any info on this?

So I bought a wiper switch for a 98. The intermittent delay ring adds a plug which the previous years don't have. The ICU box also needs to be changed out I believe, and I'll have to wire up the control ring to the ICU box. I think it can be done though.
