What should I fabricate for the 1st Gens?

I am trying to find out what people would want to buy that I could fabricate with fiberglass, mdf, or acrylic. I am pretty good at fabrication and I will have full spray equipment within the month so anythings possible.

Drawings for the rear cupholder....anyone?!!

i had an idea for cup holders. you know how our rear ashtray lifts up and comes out? make cupholders with a bracket that matches the back of the ashtray when its out so they can just click in. go me. if you make it that way you owe me a free one.

Ok, this is a good start.
The laptop mount..... draw it, or describe it. Much potential.

I already build custom fit sub boxes, I am looking for a new project to start tomorrow and I will do it for the best price anywhere.

The storage that is near the driver..... elaborate, marketable idea, that's worth looking into...

As far as the cupholder..... like I said....the razor and the armrest are on my table right now, I'll see if I can't find a picture of the newer acura cupholders...

Thanks... and if I decide to use a spefic idea for fabrication, hell yeah the person who presented it gets one free* (*=plus the cost of materials, so I guess it's 'internet' free.

Oh yeah, I do electronics and I am learning fine woodworking, so LED and woodworking ideas would be sweet.
And if anybody has experience with any of these materials and work than by all means drop me an email, I am still trying to hone my skills.

If you were to cut open your rear arm rest and make a cup holder, how would you make them for us? Have us send ours in?

My uncle did it, he's an expert with woodworking and leather. He kept the plastic base (including the clips) and added a wood layer on top of it somehow. I'll have to ask exactly what adhesive or whatever he used. It was a surprise present for me a while back.

That is a sweet gift.

If I were to mod the armrest, yes you would need to send the old one, that is a major consideration I have been battling with.

I am considering making an insert to go in between the center consol and the seatbelt buckle. Everything in my pocket falls down there, EVERY TIME I get in or out. Best of all it can be cheap.

I make them for wherever you want. I own a car audio shop, this is the majority of my business (fabrication). I'll do it for the price of materials and $13/hr.

can u give me an estimate for a 12" enclosure that will fit on the left side of the trunk... i want it to stay on the corner so i can still access the spare...

if reasonable, i will also need u to create me an amp rack that will fit in the skinny portion of the trunk...

I just need to know what kind of sub, and a more specif description of the dimensions. Just a basic line drawing will do.

Man do I have an idea for you.... you know how our ashtray pulls out? How about something to fit nicely in that space and be tilted toward me at an angle so I can mount my XM receiver to it.... it's a delphi SkyFi 2.... the dimensions for the regular SkyFi are 4.65W x 2.91H x 1.26D and I'm guessing it's about the same.... you would have to give it enough room so that it clears the dash.... I would just use some heavy duty double sided tape to mount the receiver flat to the angled surface.... and this could work for anything! other XM/Sirius receivers, iPods, garage door openers, whatever.

what do you think??

There we go.... I am swamped today, but I think that is a great idea, I already figured that the ashtray was going to be one of the only places to fabricate a mount for, thanks for the dimensions. If I don't post progress on it, remind me!

As far as the grill goes..... elaborate....

smonster - try to make any of the mods that you do fabricate as CLEAN as possible to install.

Cupholder in the rear armrest would be tight.

Anything that replaces the "ghetto" ashtray for the rear passenger - the one in the back of the centre console would be tight. Maybe something as neat as a plug in power outlet or something? A standard 110V power plug would be nice, so that rear passengers can plug in a laptop or DVD player, and chill without having to worry about runnin outta juice.

I'm also feeling the overheard lighting in the C pillars for the rear. wiring might be a pain, and in order for it to be OEM look and classy, you'd have to use a material similar to that plush stuff that lines our A and C pillars.

Couple more things - I just saw something in another thread that sounded interesting - back up rear view camera. Maybe try integrating one into licence plate frame. But I think that there are already kits on ebay so this might not be profitable.

Lastly, and I've always personally thought this was cool and useful - a mod that uses some combo of relays, and wiring, so that when you put the tranny in reverse, the passenger side mirror (and maybe even driver's side) tilt down to aid in parking. 3g TL's do this and its not only functional, but its also a crowd pleaser! If you could figure out the wiring and get a suitable relay and sell it as a kit, I'd be all over this one, as would be others.

Let us know how the fabricating is goin and thanks for your work!

I have one for SURE...I would like a little pod to house a 7" LCD for the top of the dash, that would overhange just to the top of the center vents and taper back with a cruve matching the rest fo the dash. I don't want to give up my deck where it is so I won't put the LCD in there and I want it high enough to see easily. I'll do up a diagram to show exactly what I mean. I would vinyl it to match the rest of the dash.

i too would love to keep my stock deck, and yet want something to house an LCD for a future carputer/navi setup.

Now cornflake might disagree with me on this, but I dont even mind losing the centre vents. I'd rather lose the centre vents than have a 7" screen blocking a significant portion of the view out the front. Just my
