My roommate has the Escort 8500 and it is unbelievable. The plus about the valentine is it shows where the signal is coming from, but it is soooooo expensive.

TL no more!
I use a cheap Whistler radar. It does what it does so there's no need for me to upgrade. Plus, I don't speed anyway but I want it there just in case.
Regarding the last comment, I'm not trying to be an a-hole or anything but how about not speed at all? It's not worth buying a radar detector so you can drive fast.

Yea. I never got why people are getting radar dectectors just so they can speed.
The police can always be one step ahead of the game. Who knows what band they'll use next.

Like someone else said, you don't buy a radar detector with the intention of speeding, that's just stupid. That's what ACTIVE radar jammers are for You buy a radar detector so that when you are speeding because that's the way traffic is flowing or you just aren't paying that close of attention, you don't get royally screwed when the local law enforcement catches you because you get these little beeps that say "Hey, dumbass! 5-0 near.. slow down". Which, in turn, causes you to immediately check your speed and compensate accordingly.
Anyway, Valentine One all the way. Directional radar detection is worth the extra cash.

keep the insurance premium low = keep the car
$300 is a good investment to me...I figure the minimum ticket you'll get is $120, so what if your insurance doesn't go up after the first ticket, after the second one it definitely will.
