Strut Bar Made For Our Cars

Currently, I'm talking to one of the guys whom made the highest quality strut bar for Legends, which also known as "MLS" strut bar. I'm trying to get him to make one for our cars and I need to know a rough sketch of how many people are at least 80% sure that they want to buy it.

This bar may not look as pretty as the KMS legend bar, but it's proven to be one of the best strut bars made for performance (of course there's the sway bar factor beside this). You can read more about it here

For those who don't know what the strut bar look like the one shown below:

Buyer(s):

1. Me for sure.

Yeah...I just wanted to make sure there's enough of us who wanted it to have something solid for him to work with.

I just spoke to FUT today and he needs someone from LA to bring in the car for measurements to make the prototype. If you're from LA, let me know so I can give you his contact number. Apprarently, there's only 2 people who are interested in getting this, well this is 1 time shot. Either we all get it or we don't.

Would it really improve the handling that much?

There are 3 factors to this and having the strut bar is just one of the factors. If you want your car to be solid you'll need all 3. Strut bar (front and back), Sway bar (front and back), and the Roll Bar. If you have all 3, you can join the nascar competition (jk), i'm sure there's more to it.

I use TCS control and that already increase a marginal stability, imagine with a strut bar in it, it would definitely helps a lot. The reason why I didn't want the KMS legend bar becuz it's light weight and can easily be bend. The stock legend bar helps somewhat, but not so much. GSteg do a lot better job in explaining.

The bottom line is that I'm not trying to talk anyone into buying this. If you're interested, you're interested. If this is what you been searching for, here it is. Just think about it. There's no sway bar nor strut made specifically for our cars. We use parts from other cars in our car and make the best out of it. It's like using "Honda Civic engine" in a body of a TL. (no offense to anyone, just using comparison)

if you drop your car and have all the bars that TL-Ridaz96 stated then you can take tight turns at 100mph! jk..not that fast but you can handle tight turns. I want to have all the bars and give it a test run by having a police chase...on tv! whose with me?! we can do a group run and all split up with our tight handling

That MLS design is far better than KMS.

KMS if you want looks

MLS design if you want performance

Most people prefer the latter.

Do any of you guys know if the TL came with rear anti-sway bar? If so, I'm sure Addco will be able to make an OEM replacement. The rear sway bar helps tremendously with body roll through the corners.

We have to be like that guy with the BMW that put Houston on CNN coast to coast. But we need an exit strategy too. Otherwise sooner or later you're going to run out of gas.

I suggest one or two RPGs in the backseat to scare off the helicopter. Then we can out handle the cop cars and make our way to Oregon where Ken will protect us.

Ok ladies and gents, given that there is an obvious interest in a quality strut brace for our 1st gen TL's, I have been talking with my cousin who is a machinist/ engineer at a precision tool company in colorado. I am going to order the factory strut bar from the 91-95 legend, take some various measurments for my 3.2 TL and we are gonna try and come up with a combination brace that like the legend strut bar, ties in fully to the firewall as well, but will be much stronger than the OEM brace, and likely as good looking as the legend kms brace. On top of that it can be anodized any color, powder coated or fully polished, also he will have the prototype laser etched with the TL logo. This will likely take 2-4 weeks after I send him the factory brace and measurments for the 3.2. He will work with the prototype engineer and have it finished a.s.a.p. He also assures me that this can be done for less than $200.00 USD. And also all of you 2.5ers, if you are interested, I will need measurments for the 2.5 as well. This is a serious project we are willing to start, and will be performed at Magnum Tool Corp in Colorado. http://www.magnumtool.com/

Let me know if any of you have any thoughts or comments on this!
Sorry for the long winded post.

P.S. And there doesnt have to be a minimum # of us to buy either, he will make as many or as few as we need!

Is there a way I could take my car to him for him to measure since I live in Colorado? For the 2.5's that is.

Whatever it takes to get the job done. If your cousin can deliver the promise, I'll be right behind you till the day that it's DONE! Well i can't be physically there cuz i'm in Cali, but consider me your 1st customer. Like I said if it has the look and the performance...that's even better, I'm more concern on the performance than the look.

Righton.. I'll keep updating as the project unfolds. I should have the legend OEM brace before the end of next week. As for performance; I can pretty much guarantee that it will be better than the LMS bar, because it will tie to the firewall as well(aiding to its flex resistance), and obviously better than the legend OEM bar, because it will likely be titanium. But like "Kamlung"said, your better to pair it with a stiff suspension to get the least body roll, and then you've got sway bars to think about as well.

Mods include: BAG BAR ... sounds like something to hang groceries from in the trunk

I would have to talk to the shop doing it and see what's up, if they could do that, though it may just be easier to make one from scratch then deal with shipping and everything.

Its going to be pretty difficult for anything to fit over the 3.2 engine cover, as there is incredibly little clearance. As for the brace I am going to be working on, we are hoping to make one that will not require removing the cover.

Just a thought... I believe that the 91-95 legend motor covers will fit in place of our 3.2 cover, giving a lil more clearance for a strut bar. While not as nice looking as the 3.2 cover, the benefit could be worth it.(they are kinda expensive though). But again, just a thought.

parts 2 and 3 in this guide..

so beebster, you have any drawings to what the outline of this strut gonna look like?

I'm praying to God that it looks at least 90% similar to the bars in the pic above. It was designed to get the most performance out of a strut bar.

Well if you are 100% sure you're carrying through with this project, I guess I can tell the Legend guy that I don't need him anymore?

As for the engine cover, I would like it to be there, but then I also wanted to show my masculine 6 cyl engine too.

Ok, so I can't draw for shit, but you can get the idea... like I said earlier though, I am hoping we can pull this off without the engine cover being removed, but I dunno.
I made this sketch with no engine cover...

^^^^^ I would like to point out, this is just a sketch. The bar of course will be angled and contoured to fit. Also, the plan is for the bar to mount to the strut mount itself just as the LMS bar, and also to the tower like the Legend OEM bar.
