I have a 96TL 3.2 that ran great until 1 Hr. ago. When key is turned on, the dash is blank and nothing works. When key turned to start,dash lights up, everything works, engine starts and runs until the key is released. If you hold the key on just enough that the starter is not engaged, the car runs just fine. Any suggestions?

Could be a faulty ignition switch or wiring but personally I don't have any experience, but try googling 'car only starts hold the key' (or variants of that). I'm sure you're not the only one to experience that kind of problem. (Edit: does the car make any unusual noise when you try to start it?)

No there is no unusual noise when key is held on or when the car starts.

get a new ignition switch, the electrical portion that screws into the back of the lock cylinder. Should be under $100 from the dealer

The IG Switch is bad. Must have had a hard life.

it's around $50.00 at the dealer.
The IG switch, the electric part has worn out. It took me less tha 30 min to change it out.
