I hope this has been discussed before. I wanted to do some work on my Car that involves unhooking the battery. Since I do not have my code, I called the Acura dealer for some help.

I was told that for them to determine the code, they will have to unhook the radio, get the serial number, call Honda and get the code. Is this BS or what?

So, enough said, does anybody know how to get this code? I take it that this is not common knowledge, just because if people knew it, people would steal radios left and right.

Help is appreciated.

After some research, thanks to one of our members, I found the Code and the serial Number on the inside of the Fuse Box Cover inside the hood.

I called in the Serial number to my dealer, he got to the Honda Network and then he confirmed the Code as it appeared in the Fuse Box!

I do not know what to do, if not for this Forum!

I still don't understand why dealers do this. I got my code for my radio and navigation on seperate cards that were tucked inside my owner's manual case.

Oh, and yes, to get the code, they need the serial number of your radio,which is in the back of the radio. I do know that for at least 2003's, you can press and hold buttons 1 and 6 while turning on the radio, and it will flash the serial number on the display.

I just bought my TL and no one knew the code (despite my research, I'm beginning to worry about the history of my car - oh well, just hope everything falls within my repair ability!). Anyways, I have no such info in my under-hood fuse box cover. Mandy: was this something that was inscribed/etched in the cover, or did you luck out and someone just wrote it in there?

The 1-6 trick doesn't work on my radio. Time to learn how to disassemble the dash, I guess.......

Disassebling the dash is easy. Just get a thin metal object to pry the fake wood on the left, it'll be held by clips. Once thats off, common sense will show you the rest.

The mathematician in me has gotten the best of me. Just for s*its & giggles, I decided to figure out the possibilities. My code appears to be 5 digits, with 1-6 as the choice for each. That equates to 7,776 total possibilities. Since you get locked out after 3 tries, that's 2,592 "trios" of codes.

With a 2-man team - one on the radio, one on the battery, and if it takes you 5 seconds to enter 3 codes, then 5 seconds to dis/wait/re-connect the battery, it would take 7.2 hours to try all the codes. Assuming your code is randomly in the list, your expected time to hit the right one is half of that, or 3.6 hours.

Hmmm.....I better get more beer........

In addition to the fuse box, a few other places that they use to stick the label to your radio code is under the pullout ashtray/coin tray, in your glove box, and upside down inside the cubby in the trunk where your user manual goes.

It is strictly a dealership thing and many places don't even do it.

finally just pulled the radio out and - thx to a helpful service tech - got my code. It officially was nowhere in my car!

How did you go about removing the factory stereo without messing up the anti theft built in???????

the anti-theft is basically a code that is you need to use the radio. it resets everytime you unplug your battery or pull the radio fuse. so basically you'll need it if you ever want to use your radio. to remove the stereo is the same as any car basically just unscrew it and unplug the harness.

Not sure I get your confusion: my radio was already locked previously from having the battery pulled. So, pulling my radio out didn't lose me anything. You can physically remove the radio from its "docking point" without unplugging the harness/power. If you just need to jostle it around to do some wiring or whatnot, but don't have your code and don't want to pull the power, then just keep it plugged in.
