New to the forums and need help with iacv.

Hello , im new to the forums . I own a 96 2.5 tl . When i cold start it , the RPMs are jumpy so the car basically revs its self repeatedly in park/neutral. And in drive/reverse the car gets jumpy at low speed . I suspect its the IACV ! Can someone confirm this and maybe link me to a " how-to " inorder to clean it.

You can find many DIY on cleaning IACV just by googling. The only difference is to locate it on your car. Welcome!

Do you have a CEL on? Or else take it to a BM Auto store and have it checked for CEL's. Report back to us. Good luck.

CEL = Check Engine Light

You will see the "engine" like yellow light that comes on in the dashboard telling you there is a problem.
Usually this comes on when there is an emission related issue.

Is it on?

Did you pull the electrical connector off the IACV and spray both sides with cleaner? Wait for it to completely dry, plug back in, and reset the ECU.

Disconnect your battery, preferably the negative terminal, for a few minutes then reconnect.

Just as an update, the problem with the iacv has been solved. I unmounted the iacv again and cleaned it once again. Mounted it back up and ran 1/2 a can of seafoam through the pcv hose I believe . I took the car on the highway for about 10 miles. And the rough idle and jumpy rpm ceased.
