Is my Acura worth fixing with these codes?
my 1998 Acura 2.5 TL has gotten very poor in performance just last few weeks. I got a Kobra code reader and it gave me these codes:
P0118 - says "Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input"
P0505 - says "Idle Control"
P0700 - says "Trasmisson Control System (MIL Request)"
P1792 - i didn't get what this one said.
Up until this point, the car ran like a champion for all the time I've driven it, and has 209K miles. By that I mean, 80-90 mph on freeway, 12 hours a day if I needed to drive that long, but I almost never had to; the point is the car always gave me more performance than I asked of it. Even with a serious oil leak since 2009, it has run like a champ. I put in a quart of oil every time it was low, and watched the level.

Where is that oil going?
If the ECT is high, is the coolant up to level? Is there oil in the coolant?
Without checking on your TL, it seems to me that you have a blown headgasket.
It's an easy fix but very expensive. It's best to look for a very reasonable shop to take a look and give you an estimate.
The gasket alone is probably $100-200. The job can run over $1k. Most of the cost is the labor involved.
A fair independent shop or independent mechanic / tech might charge as low as 200-300 labor to do it.
Get it checked to verify what the real issue is though.
When was the last time you got the timing belt, water pump, adjuster, and idler pulley changed?
If no recollection, need to get that done too.. another 200-300 in parts. Labor is inclusive for the most part.
