My 3rd gen is 78/mo full coverage... Unless you can pay to repair/replace your car in this economy by all means members get only liability but if I were you, get full coverage unless your town has great public transportation...lol.

Full coverage on a car this old and that high in miles?

Better off putting the money into an investment. Thats all the insurance company does with it

Do you ever read ANYTHING I type in full. I stated that its fine if he can pay for repairsor buy another car vs. pay the 2x.xx difference. People are free to do what they want. At least with full coverage if its totalled you get a check for what the car was worth to go towards the purchase of another car vs. digging in you pockets.

I do read everything you type. My reading comprehension is quite excellent, thank you for your concern.

I was playing the devil's advocate regarding possible financial scenarios, thanks for playing!

I would love to find this interior to swap over...

got wood grain panels from the wrecked one for the doors and console you'd want to sell?

Whoa! Heated discussion about insurance. For now I am happy with liability because car this old and quarter million miles isn't worth much and as Ken said I can use that extra $$ into my savings account for some other use. My 97 had full coverage though.

This works Mandy. But don't do it like I did..haha I used brake clean instead of carb cleaner/B-12. I am pretty sure that it helped because all the OBD self test monitors are complete and light hasn't come back ON. Definitely let it sit for at least few hours after you put ATF and B-12 cleaner in. I only let it sit for 30 mins the first time and the light came back on with in few miles. And make sure that you put fluids in the rectangular hole NOT the round one because that goes back to exhaust and don't over dose it. You can damage your catalyst.

When you are ready to start the car, Make sure no one is around the engine because it will spit out some smoke and chemical from the EGR pipe. Start the car and let it idle for few minutes. Then rev the engine upto about 2000 RPM for about 2-3 minutes. Then shut the car off and put the EGR valve back on and go for a drive to clear all the ATF and chemtronics B-12 out of the system.

I wish it were that simple. Besides, I have all the wood anyway, and I have more socket holes because mine isn't a base.

No need anymore. Also, since you sis had to deal with the Accord, she deserves a nicer car, so I'm glad that you found that one for her.

She can't wait to get in this car. I am going to drive this for some time now so that I can work all the bugs out and fix if anything seems it need attention. She wanted my 97 but it got totaled in an accident.

As for the parts, everything that has failed or is failing is getting replaced. Unfortunately Interior color is different, I'd really love to swap these door panels and center console/armrest part. But all is in acceptable condition so nothing too much to worry about.

I kind of miss the 3 but TL is a better car overall.

You mean the plastic trim around the shifter? Tony definitely has that. He's using the grey armrest, though, and Krayzie, stay tuned for something that most certainly will interest you. Is your rear armrest just torn, or is it gone?

Clean EGR Port

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of questions...
1) Was the car on when you poured in this mix into the EGR passage?
2) What's the purpose of adding transmission fluid? Why not just use the carb cleaner/B12?
3) Not sure I understand how to hold the throttle wide open and blow compressed air down the pipe? Did you use a separate device for that? An air gun? Also, how did you gain access to the throttle? (I'm assuming the car was off for this step).

Thanks.

Ans. Engine OFF. Make sure you pour it into the rectangular hole, not the round one. That goes back to exhaust.

2) What's the purpose of adding transmission fluid? Why not just use the carb cleaner/B12?
Ans. Transmission fluid softens carbon up. So does the carb cleaner. Mixture works better (I guess). But hey! it worked for me so I guess thats all what matters. Don't use too much of it at once.

3) Not sure I understand how to hold the throttle wide open and blow compressed air down the pipe? Did you use a separate device for that? An air gun? Also, how did you gain access to the throttle? (I'm assuming the car was off for this step).
Ans. Engine OFF. Use a brick or some friend to hold the gas paddle to the floor. You must have access to compressed air and an air nozzle to blow air into the EGR port. If not let it sit little bit more and start the engine with EGR valve still out of the car and let it run for couple of mins. Then put everything back together and go for a drive to blow it all out of exhaust.

Thanks.

Do what ever make you feel safe.

Anyways, it was kind of long day. Car is back to looking like "normal". Suspension is in and it looks freaking great. I like the drop with 17" rims. But dad is not happy, he thinks its too low for an average driver.. I was like Pics will come tomorrow. I am tired and its too dark outside.

Tony! You the man! I will certainly try this. Maybe that's what the dealer will do anyway.

I will send you a PM, I need a little more detailed instructions man!

Thanks a lot!

Pics time. Got done with suspension on Sunday. Took it to work today, ride felt kind of bumpy, maybe because I need tires really bad and an alignment will help too as it pulls to left. Only passenger side pics this time.. I need to take more pics. Been pretty lazy lately.

Maybe one drivers side.

Rear is little on the high side compared to the front. I am thinking about raising the front up a little because I don't want bumper to stick on parking lot stop things.. lol

So, I am suspecting a blown head gasket in future of this car. I am pretty sure its on its way out. But runs pretty good and smooth.

SF people, when are you guys gonna have time to come help me out with pulling the engine out of 97? I'll have those triangular things ready for you with some Indian style tea..haha

Its on the lift!

Finally started the swap today! Got the engine free from most of the wiring harness and other mess. Gonna pull the old motor out tomorrow.

I had that Benz today, a CLK55 AMG cabriolet. Beautiful car. With temperatures in the 80's today, clear skies and a full tank of gas, right car for the day..
