I bet most of the 3.2's out there will do 140+ if they have stock wheels. They seem to be fairly light.

I've read that the stock limit is 153 mph. It is electronically limited. I doubt our cars can go much faster.
When it comes to top speeds, the law of diminishing returns applies.
Its easy to get to 130 mph but to get to 140 or 150 mph requires much more power.
I had an 88 Accord with a 98 hp engine. It could do 125 to 130 mph. But to reach 150, would probably require another 50 hp.
Look at cars that go 200 mph or more. They sometimes have 600 to 700 hp or more!

Alot of it has to do with your tranny. You could gear our trannys so that they crawled like a snail for the first 20 mph (thus not undrivable in day to day life) but could make it up to 155-160
The 3.2 just dosnt have the horsepower with the stock tranny to get over 137-145 mph range. I have tried about 9 times now. 3 times with exhaust, weapons-r, and no cat converter. I just sat there for over a minute.......... 139................................140............ ......................141......................... .......142,

147 on my latest test run.
Estimated 235 hp (conservative estimate could be as high as 250) with Type II engine heads, Bayou chip, custom intake.
Spare tire and jack removed.
Stock wheels.
Next project is a better flowing exhaust.

Type 1 was 200 hp (same engine as the 3.2 TL) Mated to either a 4 auto or 5 manual.
Type 2 was 230 hp. Either a 4 auto or 6 speed manual. It has different valves, different intake timing and fuel timing changes.

2.5TL got it to 214km/h on the flat highway. I guess that's about 133mph. It has the highest top speed of any vehicle my family owns or has ever owned (hehe we drive slow things in Canada).

I was on the highway up to Vermont and there was a TSX that was shadowing me as I went along. I would be in the left hand lane (2 lanes) doing anywhere from 75-90, and he would follow from a safe distance behind me, and I would switch lanes, he would too. It bugged the hell out of me because all of the traffic was doing it, I was always the lead car, so I went back into the right hand lane and eventually they all got past me and got off, except for the TSX. Now in front of me, he won't let me pass him, I try to a few times, but it never really works out. Needless to say, the road straightened out, and you could see for a good long ways, not even trees in the middle, no cops, no problem. We 'raced' to the next turn in the highway, I don't know if he really was or not. We were actually really even, but either I started pulling or he let off around 115, I went all the way to 125, moved back into the right hand lane, and slowed down for the upcoming curve (the roads were wet from some scattered showers).
So 125 is a new record for me
I was thrilled at how smooth the car felt, even at 125 I felt safe in it, I felt like there was rom to go faster, and slowing down and going around the next bend, I felt confident.

I'll be right up there with ya in a few weeks. Finally went and paid for my motor on Monday, supposed to be delivered yesterday, didn't show up, so I'm gonna phone this morning and find out exactly where it is. Will be driving g/f's old Scirocco for the meantime... not looking forward to that, I think it's top speed is about 100 MPH, on a GOOD day!!! :P

I have done 150 or just above, the car stopped pulling at 140 but I whooped my friends 2003 Tiburon GT V-6 from a stop to 130 which is where his car is governed.
