Exclamation Gold for my girl

Okay, so the TL I am purchasing (sadly not for a few months ) has the gold trim on it, hence the nickname Golden Girl. But the gold has begun to peel and fade. I suppose using real gold plate was maybe a mistake on Acura’s part as gold doesn’t weather well. Anyhow, I am dreading the cost of re-dipping the trim so I was hoping someone out there knew of a place that sold replacement gold trim for my 96 3.2L TL, I’ve seen places that sell the chrome trim kits but not the gold, any info would be much appreciated, even if someone know of a parts car that would sell me the trim if its in good shape. Thanks all.

I'd just stick with chrome since gold will soon tarnish again. Better yet, debadge and/or get an "H".

Well I would have to at least go to chrome, seeing as there is still the trim around the grille and the trim around the license plate on the rear, and I am not a fan of the JDM inspire mesh grille, I have considered the chrome, but the gold is just so rare to see that I think it adds a nice touch of individuality, and I usually de-badge cars, but I rather like the gold badges and trim it ,attracts me, otherwise I would just leave it the way it is as underneath the gold plate is a Smokey chrome color which is sorta cool. I had planned on leaving all the gold around the grille then possibly meshing the grille with a gold honey comb and keeping the gold Acura symbol to make it really stand out.

There is no Inspire mesh grill. That's junk from eBay.

I will post some soon, I don’t have any that really show off the trim at the moment as they are all dark shots, and it’s too dark now to take some, but I will post some up tomorrow.

Yes, and I know tmnhs personally. That grille is not an Inspire grille. It's a replica of the Mugen grille with mesh and the badge missing.

~Cheers~

haha I figured you did, as I was reading about the tragic death of his 97 TL. And on that thread he calls it an inspire grille, he actually says he was going to ask you to bring down your spare inspire mesh grille with you to put it on so you two can roll as twins or something like that, but I'm not arguing with you I am sure you know more than me, I'm a newbie to TL's and all imports really, I'm just glad I found this nice community with so much information. So thanks for clearing that up

He got two Inspire grilles for 3.2TL. I said I was going to ask him to bring his other one with him so that we can change the one on mine and roll together to AcuraFest..

Okay here are the Pics that pro found, asked to see. It is sort of hard to tell that the front gold grille trim is oxidizing, but you can see that the 3.2TL badge on the back is hardly even gold anymore.

Hello, I have the exact same problem. Wondering if you found a way to get a new Gold Grill or the old one looking good again.

Not a damn thing man I work in a parts place...or did, and I searched everywhere, I even went straight to the dealer, they discontinued the gold trim a while back...looks like the trims off to Vancouver for electroplating.
