Am I missing something?
On a full tank, I have been getting around 310/320 miles for last few years, mixed driving. I am at 247k now.
That's not even to the point when the low fuel light comes on. If I keep on driving over 320 miles, than I see the fuel light.

I don't think any 1st gen TL has a 17 gal tank.

Could it it be the 3.2s?

I got an 06 TL and the most I have ever put in it was just over 13 gallons, and that was after the low fule level light went on. I always let it fill untill the pumps back pressure gage clicks it off ant I stop. I have heard that there are very bad things that can hapen if you overfill the tank. I wonder what is the most that somone has been able to cram into the tank. I also wonder what is the most amount of money that somone in this fourm has spent on filling the tank.

there's always a reserve in the tank (~3-4 gallons) when the gas light comes on so you can limp to a gas station to refuel and not get stranded on the side of the road...i'm a 3.2 and the most i've ever filled up was ~15 gallons and that was driving for a looong time after the light came on...

When the empty gas light comes on in my 3.2, I have used up 14.5 gallons.

Well as far as I know its a 65l tank, and if you convert it to US gallons it gives 17.2gal. Today I put 53L(14gal) of gas in the car and the light wasn't even on, it was just going on and off from time to time, so I'm fairly certain that it's a 17.2 gallon tank.
On another note, I traveled 400km(250mi) with 53L of gas, which equates to roughly 17.85mi/gal. I guess that's the average that people get on here. Maybe with a lighter foot and more highway driving I'd get more.

^ Yeah it's kinda funny, a month or so ago, all the Americans were crying that gas went over $4/gal, while here in Montreal we were paying above $5.50/gal.
Yesterday, I checked on (insert city name here)gasprices.com the chart that shows average gas prices in the last 6 years, and it's just unbelievable how cheap it used to be. Compared to what we are paying now, driving around in 02 was almost free.

My record is 23.5/mpg
Have any of you seen that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer takes the Saab on a test drive to see how far below E he can take the car? Try it with the TL, you'll be amazed.
Yes, it's 17.2 gallons. Some car manufacturer's gas gauges say EMPTY and have gallon(s) left. Others may indicate EMPTY, and truly are (Saturns). Acura is one of the ones that bluff.
You'd be surprised at your TL's range... My record on 1 tank of gas is 377.4 miles. (Trust me, it takes a lot of nerve to drive that long with the needle pegged below the E. I advise bringing a filled gas can if you try that.) When I filled up, I had used a hair under 17 gallons. And that was about a 22/mpg tank.
I generally drive 350 miles on a tank now before I fill up. I trust my odometer more than my fuel gauge.
I keep track of my car's gas consumption hardcore! I recommend www.fuelfrog.com or www.fuelly.com if you want to get serious about mileage recording.

I averaged around 22-25 mpg in my 3.2P...I keep track of every tank as well and only fill till the auto-shutoff kicks the pump off to be consistent. Since I moved to San Diego 2 weeks ago and can only get 91 octane and not 93, my average has dropped about 2-3 mpg on the last 3 tanks

One problem w/ running w/ very low fuel. If you're on a sustained downhill stretch or you brake hard for several seconds, you may lose fuel pressure and engine stall in traffic. Not fun!
Most I've ever put in my 2.5TL is ~14 gallons and low fuel light never came on.
I burn 87 unleaded all the time, after testing and not detecting any difference in mileage or performance w/ premium.
good luck

I also have been using 87octane after trying it out and not noticing any ill effects.

REALLY??? I put in 89 and my freaking check engine light came on. I done this twice and they both come on so now I have to stick with premium.

I'll stick to it too. The car lags and is powerless with out it. Using Premium after a few fill ups and i noticed the car has power for an older car. lol. I used to use Mid-grade (89)

I notice both a performance loss and fuel mileage loss on lower octance stuff, the car just doesn"t pull the same on the highway. When I was moving out to san diego a few weeks back, I was stuck with some realy shitty gas in NM and AZ and my car was bitchin', sepcially through the mountains.
Also, running on low fuel is a good way to shorten the life of your fuel pump...the gas is it's only coolant

Its kind of off topic but i want to know how many miles you can go before gas light comes ON on a 1997 3.2TL. Right now I am at 307 miles tank almost empty gauge all the way down and still no light. I am keeping 2 gallons with me just in case if I run out of gas!!

Gas is cheap here: $2.51/gallon. Screw you guys in the rest of the country with access to 93 or even 94 at the pump for $2! We can get 100 at the pump but it's over $7/gal!!

I filled up my tank Monday at @2.099 at Costco for 13.371 gallon at 345mi. So it's only 8.14 cents per mi or 25.8 mpg., which is not bad at all. I have 90% highway mileage and usually get 25~26mpg. The highest mpg I got is 28.4mpg for 445mi in Sep this year. I have 98 3.2TL w/ 85k miles. I think I'll get better mileage if I change spark plugs and timing belt (still original).

OK so today I was on freeway and car started to die. I was out of gas. I got 320 miles on one tank, filled up with 16.XXX gallons I got around 20 MPG's. I think thats ok not great. My driving is aggressive and I hate slow moving people!!
