Crappy little drivers side footrest

I have a 97 3.2, and the footrest is way too short. I'm fairly tall, but I can barely reach the footrest when I'm sitting in my car. I remember seeing a post with the tech notes on how to change that, and which part to use, but when I search the forums I cant find the thread. Does anyone know where/how you can get the bigger footrest that you can actually use?? Thanks

PM me with your e-mail address. I have a PDF for the Acura service bulletin that deals with this. You just need Acrobat reader to open it. The instructions (including pictures) and part numbers are included.

I'm 6 foot and I can barely reach it. Its because it is strangely recessed very far back. In other Honda vehicles, I have NO problem whatsoever.

I'm 6'1 and I cant reach it. I think it was just a problem with the '97 3.2, but I'm not really sure. Ok, my seat is almost all the way back, and i can put the pedals to the floor no prob, but I cant reach the footrest!! Ken, thanks man, I'll PM you now.

According to the Acura service bulletin, only certain 1996 and 1997 3.2 TL's were affected. Not sure why.

sorry but im still confused. let me get this straight, you move your seat as far back as you please yet you can still reach the gas (have the potential to floor it) but your left foot CAN'T reach the footrest?? I don't see how this can be possible.. unless your handicapped and have a shorter left leg than your right? sorry guys, im slow. maybe its b/c im not affected by it so i wouldn't understand.

actually, being tall could mean you have a long upper body or you have long legs. for example, i have a long upper body. im 5'9 and i wear a 30 length in jeans. its unnecessary for guys to have long legs anyway..thats a girls trait :p

lol, basically the dead pedal in some cars, is only about an inch. it should stick out from the floor quite a bit, mine is basically like putting my foot on the firewall (like if there wasnt even a dead pedal there at all). As far as the long legs, lol, that is a trait for the chicks. hah I'm a little over 6' (I know i said 6'1 but thats with shoes on and I wear a 32. Basically, I'd look at your dead pedal and see how big it is...then imagine if it only was like an inch away from the firewall or whatever its attached to. Its the equivilent of being as far back as if you were putting the accelerator to the floor...or even a little farther back.

Exactly. Thats the whole point of this Acura service bulletin, apparently some cars came with dead pedals that are far too back.

Maybe YOUR dead pedal is where its supposed to be, but mine wasnt. It affected only certain 1996 and 1997 3.2 TL's.

Dead pedal

I too am aflicted with the extreme lack of a dead pedal. I'm 6'3" with long legs. Seat is all-the-way back. I can floor the gas. But my left foot just flops around like a wee little fish out of water! Is there a fix for this... short of screwing a piece of wood on to the far recessed pedal. I love my car but I hate this aspect of it.

I too have the 1997 3.2 TL short Dead Pedal

Does anyone have the part number that I could use to purchase this, or does anyone have a recommendation on an after market part I could use?

Thank you!
